In this AR era, you can find them all over the internet and local gun stores. For those looking to get a quality AR but a limited in their spending, can you find an AR under $500? Here'a few to look at.
Windham Weaponary R16 M4 - $465
This AR features an M4A4-type flat top upper receiver and Picatinny rail gas block to allow for the use of a variety of optics and removable sights. However, it doesnt come with iron sights.
Delton DT16 $482
Has a six position stock and is the only one on this list that comes with iron sights. Doesn't come with the rear sights but the A post at the front.
DPMS Oracle
May be one of the most accurate out on the market for under $500. Features a 16″ lightweight barrel, a flat top upper receiver, Glacier Guard handguards and a collapsible, six-position Pardus buttstock. See the rest of AR15 under $500.
Bump for later.
The time to buy is NOW. NOW. NOW.

I purchased a Springfield Saint and it’s good. First magazine of 223 had a misfire, no damage in barrel but interesting to say the least. Remington bulk ammo.
I built one for about $350 - shoots great. There are plenty of videos online for how to assemble them and you’ll get the satisfaction of owning a gun that you made. I’ve made 3 in total, and it’s a lot of fun.
You just need to buy an armorer’s wrench for tightening the castle nut - about 20 bucks and the rest of the tools you probably already have in your toolbox.
I bought a stripped lower from a gun show for $45. All the rest of the parts you can order online shipped to your door. I recommend Palmetto State Armory, but there are lots of e-tailers with great prices.
You’re right, I think this is why my M-14 is over 7k now heh.
They say it’s a love hate relationship, but now it’s more love than anything, just a lot of hate getting there.
Buddy of mine has one, and likes it.
That ammo is terrible, I won’t use it for those reasons too.
Also the Winchester .22 rimfire ammo tends to misfire a lot.
This video may appeal to some frugal gunners.

I bought a Diamondback DB-15 from a dealer in AZ in 2017 for $519. Fired many rounds through it, excellent quality.
What brand ammo do you use? I normally get mine from Freedom Munitions but I didn’t want to buy a bulk lot until I got it sighted in

LOL. Mine started out cheap, too. I guess Im around $2,000 all in for mine. Then Mrs. L wanted one. I finished it in time for Christmas. Hers is around $1,800 or so and we havent put an optic on it yet.
But, you get what you pay for. Right?

Mine stock with irons was great. Then I had to have this spectre ds optic. The length of pull was too long to gain proper eye relief, so then I needed a chassis. Then I cut and crowned the barrel, then I had to get many mags heh. The list went on. She’s a joy to shoot though.

I use a lot of hirtenberger surplus for 7.62, and I make my own for 6.5 creedmoor. Yesterday I made a load, I tested my velocities with five rounds then dialed for 1200 yards. First round hit. To be fair, the steel I was aiming at is 24x24”.
I then put subsequent rounds on that steel inside 9. I love that round heh.
Hirtenberger green tip 62gr a lot of guys are doing well with too. That’s for the 5.56mm.
That’s good shooting at 1200. I’m still sticking with 308 for now. What kind of glass were you using?
Bought an article chambered in 450 Bushmaster and almost died from bullet sticker shock
