Are the Democrats Too Divided to Beat Trump?

We’re almost two years away from the next presidential election, but Democrats have already begun to jostle for the position of Trump’s number one adversary. Gabbard, Harris, Gillibrand, Warren and Castro have already announced their candidacy for president. O’Rourke, Biden, Sanders, Booker and others are anticipated to announce their candidacy soon. When it’s all said and done, this will truly be a massive field of candidates.

This large number of presidential candidates highlights the weakness of the Democratic party. It shows their inability to put their efforts behind a cohesive set of ideas.

On one side, you have people who are often considered far left, like Gabbard and Sanders. Then you have people like Warren, Harris and O’Rourke who are considered progressive by mainstream standards but are more to the right than Gabbard and Sanders. Then, of course, you have steadfast establishment-types like Biden and Gillibrand.

I think that the Dems are too divided to beat other Democrats.

The Democrats are divided, but it is the Republican establishment that will defeat Trump and/or his agenda.

Didn’t the GOP/GOPe have 17 candidates in 2015-2016? Talk about a crop of mostly idiots.

Division does not matter - its who counts the votes that matters.

No. They’re too stupid, hateful, bigoted, racist, power mad and/or crazy to beat Trump.

Let’s hope. Personally, I’m still trying to recover from PTOS. (Post Traumatic Obama Syndrome).

Don’t forget Sexy Vegan is going to be on the ballot in 2020. He has real California style appeal.

In 1976, the Dems had George Wallace (segregation now, segregation forever), Jimmy Carter (Why not the best?), Jerry Brown (New Age nuts and twigs), Frank Church (anti U.S. military), Mo Udall (Twigs minus nuts), Henry "Scoop" Jackson (Pro-Union, pro-defense) and Ellen McCormack (pro-life Dem), and a handful of others (Lloyd Bentsen, Milton Shapp, Fred Harris, Sgt. Shriver).

The Dem party was MUCH less divided then, and they STILL won the White House. The split within the party will not truly happen until the money boys give up completely on the Republican Party outside of the northeast and sign up with the Dems. The Dems will take the money, and we will get the last of the lunch bucket yellow dog Democrats.

I meant to say they were much MORE divided ideologically/stylistically then. Northeast liberals were uneasy with Carter more for his manners and style than his actual positions. Liberal Jews were uneasy with his shirt-sleeve Christianity. In the end, they gave him a try.

It will not matter. They weren’t divided in 2016 and Trump won the election. He will do so again in 2020.

and they STILL won the White House.

Yes, but it was a close election, and the GOP was carrying Nixon's baggage.

Be aware of a new Nazi Germany. Hitler got the youth all fired up to accept socialism.
