Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has never been one to hold back on his criticism of President Donald Trump, and that's no exception during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
While the Spurs volunteered Monday at the Champions Against Hunger dinner, a fundraiser for the San Antonio Food Bank, Popovich spoke his mind on the government shutdown, now in its fourth week.
"It's just a shame that so many people are affected by what President Trump and our politicians have done. We all know it's really for no good reason," Popovich told reporters. "It's a prop. It's childish. Petty. But everyone else pays."

His statement is embarrassing and shows what a fool he is. He like so many is blinded by pure hatred and propaganda. The country is heading to a tipping point.
Beginning in the 20th century, and lasting the century, athletes (who almost always are found well to the left on the Bell Curve) kept their mouths shut and were content to collect their paycheck. Now we have geniuses like Popovich lecturing us on politics. It’s a sad sad world. Do we have politicians lecturing Popovich on how to coach?

Wow I grew up in San Antonio and go back to the original Spurs (when the Dallas team moved to SA in the old ABA and began in the Hemisfare Arena).
Pop is single handedly providing one of the lowest moments in team history. Unbelievable stupidity with the coach demeaning what has otherwise been a class team since the start.
(It is an even worse moment than when Dr. J physically threw James Silas out of bounds stealing the ball and a deciding ABA playoff game). New coach desperately needed. Pop can become a CNN analyst.

Not dare refer to the most costly and disgraceful results from a “shutdown” that happened during Nixon’s presidency. Caused by the democrats refusal to stand by the Vietnamese effort to remain independent by refusing them air support and supplemental funding of arm supplies which would have prevented that loss and that humiliating disgraceful evacuation of our Saigon embassy.
Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their 58,000 lives assisting them in their fight for freedom dishonored..
Those media resources doing so will be the same ones who supported the ignominious Vietnamese abandonment using the same hue and cry of no nation building (Which we were not doing. We were asked to help. Although JFK expanded it into that by the removal of President Diem.
Great coach, but outside of that, one of the dumbest guys around. Likes to hang out with womanizers like Bill Clinton and Henry Cisneros.
