What will 2019 bring?
The U.K. is leaving the E.U. while it builds an Army.
While the Democrats may have retaken the House, President Trump prefers to find ways to undermine THEM.
Socialists have now successfully completely taken over the Progressive moment and have hit the gas.
Will America be "Out of Many One"?
Or "The earth belongs only to men"?
Thanks so much for the info and updates. You guys are the best.
Venezuela
Power and internet still out. Deaths reported at hospitals. More concerning are reports of govt forces shooting citizens. Lack of comms make it hard to judge how big the protests are.
Israel/Gaza
Hamas continues mortar and rocket attacks. Israel evaluating response options but you can bet they will be strong.
N Korea
More evidence of a pending launch.
India/Pakistan
More cease fire violations and a Pakistan drone shot down.
Thanks so much for keeping up. BUMP.
TWO ICE agents under investigation for social Media post about Rep. Ilhan Omar claims she took terrorist training and is a Trojan Horse
Israel/Gaza.
Israel aircraft striking targets in Gaza. Looks big.
Venezuela - watch increased volatility
Getting confirmation now that an explosion occurred at a power substation at Guayana. Madero is claiming sabotage by the US. Loss of substation may mean power will be out for as long as weeks.
Interim President Juan Guaido announced that “when the time comes” the Venezuelan National Assembly would activate Article 187 of the Constitution which allows foreign military intervention in the country.
With power out now passing its third day people are becoming increasingly incensed with the govt. reports of hundreds dead in hospitals due to power loss and no more fuel for emergency generators.
So scary.
I cant believe this Venezuela overthrow is taking so long.
Wheres MADuro?
****** wow must read
As for Omar, she spoke up for a group of six Somalis arrested in 2015 for trying to cross into Mexico, as part of a plan to join ISIS in Syria. As the case went to trial the following year, the then-state representative wrote a letter to the trial judge requesting compassion - and lighter sentencing on behalf of one of the Minnesota men, who was facing 30 years jail time.
Such punitive measures not only lack efficacy, they inevitably create an environment in which extremism can flourish, aligning with the presupposition of terrorist recruitment, Omar wrote. The best deterrent to fanaticism is a system of compassion. We must alter our attitude and approach; if we truly want to affect change, we should refocus our efforts on inclusion and rehabilitation.

Power still out. Thousands protest though numbers down from previous rallies likely due to power outage shutting down transportation. Fuses are getting short. What little food left has spoiled. Looting and shooting now reported to be wide spread. With loss of power has also come lack of water for drinking and sanitation. This will raise the specter of widespread disease if not quickly addressed. Hospitals are in crisis mode as the sick congregate to the few still with power. All this driving citizens to call for outside help.

When Hamza bin Laden stumbles and falls in line with Iran

While many are aware of Irans meddling in Arab affairs, few are familiar with its indirect support for al-Qaeda.

Since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed between Iran and the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, Russia and Germany, resulting in an influx of cash for the clerical regime, Iran has grown more emboldened than ever, conducting increasingly aggressive activities to expand its influence.
In particular, Iran has ramped up its support for terrorism. While many are aware of Irans meddling in Bahrain, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, few are familiar with Tehrans indirect support for al-Qaeda, which, though well-documented, is rarely mentioned.
In a March 31 video released by al-Qaedas As-Sahab Foundation, Hamza bin Laden, son of al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden and heir apparent to al-Qaedas leadership, resurfaced with a message for would-be jihadists around the world.
Re-emerging as one of the leaders of al-Qaeda, bin Laden said in the message that the best way to contain Iranian threats to the region is to overthrow the Saudi monarchy. He uses anti-Shia sentiment to rally support including inside Saudi Arabia, for the jihadists aims.
The message, which first seems to signal antipathy towards Iran, is a covert attempt to assist Tehran at a sensitive time.
Ironically, bin Laden is saying that greater instability and terror in the Arab region will contain Iran. This is nothing but a ludicrous attempt to mask al-Qaedas unholy alliance with Tehran, which has an expansionist agenda it aims to embolden and empower.
The timing of bin Ladens message is relevant. By issuing his remarks during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulazizs visit to the United States, bin Laden made a desperate attempt to thwart the blooming alliance between Washington and Riyadh.
This again highlights Iran and al-Qaedas shared goals: stirring instability, dividing nations and threatening alliances that counter their aims.
This love affair between Iran and al-Qaeda is nothing new. In a March interview with CBS News 60 Minutes, Crown Prince Mohammed noted that many al-Qaeda operatives are protected in Iran and it refuses to surrender them to justice and continues to refuse to extradite them to the United States.
This includes the son of Osama bin Laden, the new leader of al-Qaeda. He lives in Iran and works out of Iran. He is supported by Iran, the crown prince said.
Bin Ladens son, Hamza, lived in Iran for years after the 9/11 attacks, even marrying there, the Long War Journal stated. After being released from Iran in 2010, Hamza bin Laden moved to northern Pakistan, where he received ideological training with the help of the Taliban.
Hamza bin Ladens whereabouts are unknown but it is possible he has continued to return to Iran over the years.
The murky relations between Iran and al-Qaeda were acknowledged by Osama bin Laden, who, in a 2007 document, referred to Iran as al-Qaedas main artery for funds, personnel and communication.
There are geographical, political and historical reasons for the unlikely alliance between the Sunni terror organisation and the expansionist Shia entity.
In terms of geography, Iran shares a border with Baluchistan, Pakistan, near where many al-Qaeda fighters and bin Laden family members previously hid.
It is believed that a reformed al-Qaeda, which aims to present itself as more restrained, is looking to Hezbollah and Irans al-Quds Force as models to replicate.
While many dismissed any connection between Iran and al-Qaeda as exaggerated, evidence revealed by the administration of former US President Barack Obama proved otherwise.
In a July 2017 report, the US State Department said: Since at least 2009, Iran has allowed (al-Qaeda) facilitators to operate a core facilitation pipeline through the country, enabling (al-Qaeda) to move funds and fighters to South Asia and Syria.
In addition, the US Treasury Department in 2011 designated six al-Qaeda members working for Ezedin Abdel Aziz Khalil, a prominent Iran-based al-Qaeda facilitator, as terrorists. The network was operating under an agreement between the terrorist group and the Iranian regime, the Treasury Department said.
Then in July 2016, it sanctioned three senior al-Qaeda leaders located in Iran. One of them was Faisal Jassim Mohammed al-Amri al-Khalidi (aka Abu Hamza), who served as al-Qaedas military commission chief, meaning he was one of the most important figures in the groups international network.
The Iran-al-Qaeda connection is strategic for both Tehran and the jihadists. They each see the United States and Saudi Arabia as enemies trying to clip their wings and undermine their agendas.
This means that strengthening the military, economic and diplomatic power of the anti-Iran alliance must go hand in hand with global efforts to combat terrorism in the Arab region and beyond. Efforts to ensure stability and preserve global security have a greater chance of success when the threats are dealt with firmly and together.

That’s particularly important as ISIS struggles and al Qaeda grows in some parts of the world, he added.
“Hes viewed as a trustworthy figure, and his calls to target the U.S. wont land on deaf ears,” Alkhouri said. “We are expected to hear more from Hamza bin Laden in the near future, and his leadership role is expected to grow.”

2016
BEIRUT - Al Qaeda’s media arm has released an audio in which the purported son of the late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden threatens revenge against the U.S. for assassinating his father.
In the video released by As-Sahab Saturday, Hamza bin Laden tells Americans that they are accountable for the decisions of their leaders. He says al Qaeda will continue waging jihad, or holy war, against the U.S. in response to its “oppression” of Muslims.
“If you think that your sinful crime that you committed in Abbottabad has passed without punishment, then you thought wrong,” he says.
Bin Laden was killed in a May 2011 U.S. raid at his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. His son’s whereabouts is not known. Analysts speculate that he may be preparing to take over leadership of al Qaeda.
According to reports at the time of bin Laden’s death, his widows told Pakistani security officials that they believe Hamza bin Laden escaped amid the confusion following the raid on his Abbottabad compound.
The U.S. military has said that bin Laden’s son Khalid, 22, was killed in the raid, but the speculation is that the son who just barely escaped is Hamza bin Laden, 19 at the time of the raid, dubbed in the British tabloids as “the Crown Prince of Terror.”
Hamza is the youngest of bin Laden’s surviving children. Reports differ, but bin Laden is suspected of having fathered around 20 or so children.
In his handwritten will, bin Laden claimed he had about $29 million in personal wealth - the bulk of which he wanted to be used “on jihad, for the sake of Allah.”
The al Qaeda leader planned to divide his fortune among his relatives, but wanted most of it spent to conduct the work of the Islamic extremist terror network behind the Sept. 11 attacks.

He makes my head hurt....
He called on Muslims to liberate their lands from Crusader hegemony and establish Sharia law the same conditions Isis claimed to have fulfilled when it declared its supposed caliphate three years ago.
Hamza claimed that the Arab Spring uprisings, which triggered the Syrian and Libyan civil wars as well as government overthrows in Egypt and elsewhere, had been assailed by enemies and derailed from their path.
He called on the oppressed Muslims masses to rise in rebellion against oppression and tyranny and revolt against the agents of the Americans, according to a translation by the Long War Journal.
Bah bah bah
In the future it is possible that we will see attacks in the West by both Isis and al-Qaeda supporters, Dr Rickli warned.
We shouldnt dismiss the rising threat of al-Qaeda that has been rebuilt.”
Adam Deen, the executive director of counter-extremism group Quilliam, previously told The Independent the death of Bin Laden led to a sense of false victory against Islamist extremism.
Its not just about censorship [off terrorist propaganda], its about providing a counter-narrative because theyll go to black social media sites, he added. The alternative is where were struggling.

Venezuela
It is being reported that embassy staff have been ordered out the country. this is likely due to rapidly failing conditions and falling apart of rule of law.
Citizens being called to protest Maduro by the interim president
Parliament passed an emergency proclamation.
Could get very hot very fast there. Looting and deaths from power outage continues unabated.
Venezuela
Electrical power slowly coming back. Power surges appear to have caused additional transformer failing/blowing up. This will prolong outages in many areas. No real good figures for deaths resulting from the outage but likely in the hundreds. Meanwhile Madero claims US launched an “EMP” attack.
The Venezuelan prosecutor general Tarek William Saab announces a new investigation into Juan Guaido for “national electrical sabotage”. Bolton has warned Madero govt that he’d better protect Guaido from harm.
Thanks. BUMP.
Venezuela
State Dept warns all US citizens to leave the country immediately. Also pulling all embassy personnel out of country. It is at its highest warning level - 4 Do Not Travel.
More transformers and substations (at least two) reported to have exploded due to power surges.
Water supplies reportedly have turned black in San Diego, Carabobo, suspected oil leaks.
CONJECTURE: the order for all americans to depart the country ASAP could be a harbinger of a more offensive action by the US against Madero. At least puts Americans out of harms way should things get more dicy or military action proceeds.
