The Israeli Air Force launched a strike from over the Mediterranean Sea aimed at the Duwali International Airport in southeast Damascus today.
The strike coincided with the arrival of an Iranian airliner which turned around instead of landing.
Seven missiles were reported downed by the Syrian air defenses with missiles seen in the skies over the Golan Heights.

Russia's National Defense Management Center says seven Israeli missiles were successfully intercepted by Syrian air defenses and there was no damage at the airport targeted.
The attack occurred at 5:32am Eastern Time US this morning, 1232pm Damascus time.
The Israel Defense Forces would not confirm the air attack on Damascus, but did say that the Iron Dome air defense system was activated and shot down a rocket heading for Israeli territory.
Amos Harel, defense reporter for "Haaretz" in Israel, writes that the missile firing at Israeli territory involving multiple projectiles could lead to an Israeli response.

Sic ‘em, Bibi! :)
I was perusing the scrolling news on Bing’s homepage earlier this morning, and I swear I saw a headline that said Syria claims to have repelled Israeli hit on Damascus. I’ve just gone back to find it, and it’s already gone. Now it says Damascus Bomb Blast. Guess they can’t make up their mind whether they got hit or not.
Israel fighting for Israel and that’s the way it should be.
The US military does not need to stay in Syria to do Israel’s fighting, that’s for sure.
Is is an election season and I see Israel’s game is to keep poking away until they get a response, then use the response as a justification to open up with a bigger punch.
It when the punches get bigger that the big media pay attention.
I think we need to pay attention when this is going on so we know what’s coming down the line.

“...and I see Israels ‘game’...”
As a Jew, I disagree that it’s Israel egging on the enemy.
Look up there right under the words “Syria Breaking”.
What’s that?
Why, it’s a link to the blog!
Glory be, I has FOUND it!
The fight for Israel’s survival has been a nasty one from the get go.
You do what you have to do.
I don’t think I’m dissing as much as I’m explaining how it works.
I read Menachem Begin (”The Revolt”) as a teenager and I’m more like him that Jared and Ivanka’s “Deal of the Century” plan to give 90 percent of Judaea and Samaria away.
This news will be used as an excuse to not only not pull out of Syria, but double the boots on the ground I assume.
Let the NeoCon nutjobs go over there themselves if they think it’s so important.
So, your premise/presupposition is that Israel is the instigator in this? That Israel is trying to stir up a fight?
Agree w/you, Diana. Israel is not playing games. They’re simply defending themselves. It’s not a game.
Lookie here...
“As a Jew, I disagree that its Israel egging on the enemy.”
Agree. The term ‘game’ is a dog-whistle to Israel haters, which, I guess, are STILL on this site, despite all the evidence from the Middle East regarding where the ‘hate’ actually lies.
Bobby’s “Neighborhood Bully” says it all.
Oh please. This happens every few weeks, or sometimes every few months.
This one isn’t some big US emergency any more than ones just like it in the recent past have been.
Israel pokes with its chin at jihadi fists, Yet Syria fires missiles at Israeli cities. Would we not respond if China fired a missile at an American city?
So often when the Jihadi botch a genocide attempt they claim Israel fired on them and they successfully intercepted the Israeli response.
Somehow defense is aggression when it comes to Jews for the haters out there.
I’m not quite sure of your point, but I do understand these things happen fairly often.
I am just saying that, since the President said again recently it’s time to pull out of Syria, those that want us to stay (forever, apparently) will use this as an excuse to ‘make their case to the American public’.
Are we on the same page or do we disagree?
