Thanks but I can’t lie in bed in my jammies, which is half the fun lol.

I was just very puzzled as to why these two movies, which have always been on non-stop for the month of December, are now reserved only for Christmas Eve. They must be selling the advertising for a much higher rate for those who must watch them every years.

morning all. Last night still no wifi when I turned off light from reading and went to sleep about 2 AM. The parking lot was full. I went out to check out the full moon which was overhead... mostly cloudy but it did peak through a little. We are very close to turnpike and reasonable and the only place that accepts pets so it does fill up on weekends.

Yesterday the family above me moved out. They have been here the couple weeks I have. Some noise regularly as they were a couple with two big dogs and a kitty (which I saw in window all the time). But nothing crazy. The fact that I am half deaf does help a lot of times!!!! There is no elevator and they were a long way to steps. The method of getting things down was the lady throwing boxes, etc over the raill to her hubby below. Most of the time he caught the things .. sometimes not. Lucy wanted to be out a lot of follow the action. The two dogs were in the car - probably so they wouldn’t take off from open door. They must have been runners as the couple always had them out on leashes. A lot of folks with dogs who are regulars let theirs go freely - as I do Lucy

They did NOT Have a big vehicle. Small sedan. he emptied the trunk and lots of things were tied to the top of the car. the two big dogs and a cat carrier took up a lot of space. I am grateful for my van for many reasons.

It has been interesting the folk that have been here for an extended (a week or so) stay. One day on either side for 2 cars, I had real beaters. Windows out covered with plastic; smashed up sides, heavily rusted etc. now and then different. I talked to the young man who had plastic on his window. He was a tall handsome black fella in late 20s and had a young son with him. We discussed the cost - high cost - of repairs, which we simply don’t do for economic reasons. such was his case. He was here about a week. Ohio plates. Didn’t pry into his story

Last night on one side of me was a Mercedes and the other side a BMW. The pet policy attracts a lot of people who would not otherwise stay in a budget hotel. There are 6 other hotels within a mile. NONE accepts pets - save one that has a 100$ per pet non refundable fee. That wont attract too many people, will it

I’m sure the reason is MONEY related. Years ago I bought these movies on DVD because I was tired of all the commercials. Next I’m going to buy Silent Night with Linda Hamilton. That was taken off of youtube.

I remember back when “A Christmas Story” would run non-stop all day long on TBS, can’t remember if it was Christmas day or not.

Probably too PC now.

my story on the movie Its a wonderful Life.

I only saw it once. It was at the invitation of the academic dean at my seminary. It had been a bad few weeks. My dad had died, I did the funeral. I was finishing up 3 graduate classes (got extension on papers and exams); had left my husband ; closed up my real estate office and gave away the listings and under contracts to a friend.

He and his wife had me and another student over. This was Johnson City TN where I went to grad school. I was in late 40s at the time. The other student probably the same age. The dean confided in me that this man was troubled and he was counseling him and thought that an evening of us together might lift his spirits. I was exhausted from my situation the past 2 weeks My dad died Dec 10 which started the whole process. I had planned on separating from Bob after the first of year. My dad’s death through things crazy. My mom was a very fragile person emotionally.. she never drove. Was completely dependent on my dad. I made the decision to go with her for at least a semester. She had been in poor health and it was a shock that Dad died, not her. But those MRIs are wicked. I could not fully function with the business.. not even partially. I knew the faculty would be understanding for me to not do papers and tests til late Jan/early Feb

We watched the movie - which I had mixed feelings about - ate snacks, played with their dog & cat (I had not yet had my first dog) and chatted til wee hours.

This was New Years Eve. Two days later I got a call from my professor/dean that the man had committed suicide.

So overall the movie just did not resonate with me. The circumstances of prior weeks and the death afterward of the guy..

I should give it another chance. Everyone raves and it is a classic

This movie..A Christmas Story I can get into.

It was filmed in Ohio and the house is open for tours and also overnight stays. There is a next door home that serves as museum and gift shop. The cast that live in area are there regularly to chat and sign autographs .. as volunteers.

My favorite Christmas movie now is

next would probably be the original A Christmas Carol and Ben Hur

Would love to visit that house.

I think I like the movie because it is quite nostalgic for me, especially the coal furnace but many other things too.

It’s a fun movie.

Thanks for the site.

I remember back when “A Christmas Story” would run non-stop all day long on TBS, can’t remember if it was Christmas day or not.

It's been remade, updated and and modernized with an entirely new cast.

Some of them still do dopey things though.

I’ve seen some of this information in the past. That’s why I gave up on the anticipation that anything big was ever going to happen quite a while ago.
