Over one million New Jersey Gun owners defy Governor Murphy's gun magazine ban & turn in demands of what some estimate is easily more than ten million now illegal standard capacity gun mags.
New Jersey -(Ammoland.com)- New Jersey's standard capacity magazine ban is now in effect making New Jersey's one million gun owners criminals in the eyes of the state. But in an act of mass definace, New Jersey residents refuse to comply.
Any magazine holding more than ten rounds is now illegal in the Garden State. The standard magazine for an AR-15 holds 30 rounds. Glock 19s, which is the most popular pistol in the United States, holds 15 rounds. Anyone who is possession of larger magazine is committing a fourth-degree felony.
Anyone caught with one of the now banned magazines in their possession faces up to 18 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines or both for each magazine found.
The bill was signed into law last June by Gov. Phil Murphy (D). Residents had until December 11th, 2018, to turn over magazines to police or sell or store them out of state.
Pro-gun groups sued New Jersey to try to prevent the law from going into effect. Their attempt on blocking the law failed in a federal appeals court. The three-judge panel ruled that a law limiting the number of rounds a magazine holds did not violate the US Constitution and did not put an undue burden on New Jersey gun owners.
New Jerseys law reasonably fits the States interest in public safety and does not unconstitutionally burden the Second Amendments right to self-defense in the home, the court wrote in their decision.

All those boat accidents should drive the NJ lawmakers to ban boats. That would save more lives than banning gun parts.
Any NJ Freeper needs to be careful about posting they refused to turn in these now illegal mags. I will bet you the NJ government can and will monitor social media to ID such “criminals”!!
NJ first passed their AWB in 1990, and outlawed mags over 15 rounds. During the ‘90s, just because Governor Flim-Flam Florio said that I COULDN’T own them, I bought dozens in Pennsylvania at guns shows that I visited with a friend (or 6). I even ordered some for delivery to my office in Manhattan!!!!
Fast forward a number of years: I left NJ for Texas almost exactly 18 years ago, for Texas. I had been married for about 1 1/2 years, and though my wife knew that I had firearms, she didn’t know anything about particular ones or their accessories, let alone the law.
So we passed the “Welcome to Delaware” sign on the bridge out of NJ, and I turned to her and said, “Well, now that we’re not in NJ anymore, you don’t have to worry about bailing me out of jail.”
She almost broke her jaw on the floor of the car, and asked me what I was talking about...so I explained the NJ AWB as it applied to magazines to her.
She asked, “How many of them do you have?” I said, “Sitting about 18 inches behind my ass is somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 years’ worth in Rahway State Prison.”
She turned as white as a ghost and (very uncharacteristically for her) said nothing for about 30 seconds. I must admit that I was trying to obtain that effect...and it worked PERFECTLY). :>)
Then she asked if Texas had any laws like that. I said, “No, Texas is in America.” Still is, thank God.
Best not to answer the question (much less volunteer information). Everything you say WILL be used against you...especially in our fascist states.
Silence - you still have that right, and it is best to exercise it when dealing with the authorities. You can’t control your urge to talk - then do it with your attorney, in private. Do NOT, NOT, NOT ever lie to an officer, that’s a crime unto itself, and a guarantee of a maximum sentence for the underlying crime.
In short, follow the advice to shoot, shovel and shut up...and if you don’t shoot, then just shut up.
Better yet....move to Arkansas and bring your mags with you.
The fix is pathetically simple;
NO gun owner of any type should ever vote for a Democrat.
Yes please
It was about that long ago that Big-5 Sporting Goods in our area got that and the M-48, which was the Yugoslav version of the M-98 Mauser. When they ran sales at less than $100 I couldn’t pass them up. That’s when I had to rearrange my gun safe and finally admitted I was a collector.
