Journalist arrogance is the staple of British publications such as the Financial Times and Economist. They are experts at putting Trump down and feeding us heavy globalist and EU bias with $10 words no Deplorable ever used in conversation.
Our local library gets the Economist, a weekly magazine written in London. If you scan the past two years of editorials and news, you'll read weekly diatribes against Trump. According to them, Trump has been a complete and utter failure.
So I was curious what kind of coverage they would give the Yellow Jackets protests in France, given that Macron is the hand-picked puppet of the EU globalists.
An editorial appeared this week talking about "Macron's nightmare". And the upshot is they have put a incoherent defense of Macron and a kind of pep-talk to globalists about staying the course. Here's a quick summary:
- When Macron arrived in May 2017, he showed great promise with his "young, intelligent, and bubbling ideas"
- Macron was an "eloquent rebuttal" to Brexit, Trump, and those nation-loving rascals of eastern Europe.
- At first, Macron's revolution seemed "unstoppable" with his clever reforms and his ability to face down "obstreperous" (noisy, hard to control) labor unions.
- But now, thanks to the yellow jackets, things are not working out so well Macron. Yet this is ironic for his policies are good, for his tax rises on diesel "are a sound green policy"!
- Yet the pompous editors of Economists are hawk eyes for noticing the pompous "Jupiterian" personality of the French President. They claim Macron has been "unwise" to antagonize those "left-behind" (deplorable) working class people of France.
- So what must Macron do? Well, he must first "tackle France's unaffordable pension system" -- though the Economist offers no advice on specifically how to do that, but tackle it he must!
- Does Macron's nightmare mean "populism must triumph"? No, concludes the no-skin-in-the-game experts at the Economist. After all, the American tax cuts that Trump got passed "are not affordable in the long run."
- The Economist's pundits recommend he offer an earned income tax credit as an "incentive for the low-paid to work, rather than draw the dole". [Never mind the fact that income credits are a disincentive to work.]
- Finally, Macron needs to change his style. Knock that bloody chip off your shoulder, Mac! And have a few beers and smokes with the Deplorable French working class like your predecessor Jacques Chirac did.
- In the end the IYI editors at Economist think there's nothing for the globalists to really worry about! Macron will be fine; reforming France will not take "superhuman powers".
- No drastic policy changes are really needed it seems. Macron must merely summon up his human powers of "patience, persuasion, and humility". [And doubtless a hefty dose of lying to the Yellow Jackets will help too.]

The whistling past the graveyard approach of these Globalists is amusing to read. Just be a bit more diplomatic, Macron!
Yeah, right!

I think a focus group with some French people for a day would help him understand.
Or perhaps a call-in program.
He needs to understand the situation to be able to deal with the situation.

“the American tax cuts that Trump got passed ‘are not affordable in the long run.’”
true!
If taxes were raised enough to cover program costs, taxes and program costs would get cut in short order.
I was looking at Canadian health care coverage for refugees.
We should all flee the USA.
Welfare states are out-of-control.

“weekly diatribes against Trump”
Trump fights for us.
The elites hate and deplore us.

Globalists like Macron are nice guys——as long as nobody is rocking the boat.
