In the year of the woman, First Lady Melania Trump is the greatest of them all. While the media is busy salivating over Hollywood actresses and radical female Democrats, it is Melania Trump who deserves recognition for everything she has done for women and children in the last two years.
The mainstream media loves to portray Republicans as aggressive upholders of the “patriarchy” who seek to quash the cause of gender equality. Yet the ostensible feminists on the left often bully and intimidate strong conservative women, attacking them for their beliefs and values.
This is why I was not surprised when I saw the media relentlessly target the first lady from day one of this administration, ridiculing her outfits and even mocking her accent after nearly every public appearance. It is a good thing that Melania Trump is a graceful and smart woman who knows how to set an example when she handles herself in the face of this liberal adversity. She knows she has an important role to play as first lady.
When the media attacked her outfit after a trip to Africa, Melania Trump calmly reminded reporters to focus on her ongoing efforts to assist developing countries. “You know what? We just completed an amazing trip,” she said. “We went to Ghana. We went to Malawi. We went to Kenya. Now here we are in Egypt. I want to talk about my trip and not what I wear.” She stressed that she wishes people would focus on her actions and work as first lady instead of the way she dresses or how she looks.
The media even stooped so low as to attack her Christmas decorations at the White House, calling the patriotic display a “nightmare” forest. Once again, Melania Trump stoically shrugged it off. “It is the 21st century and everybody has different tastes,” she said in response to the critics. “I think they look fantastic.” While the media continues to fret over every move she makes, the first lady is leading several initiatives to change lives.
This year, Melania Trump delivered passionate remarks on the opioid epidemic, urging our lawmakers to tackle the crisis. She launched the national “Be Best” campaign to empower young people and address drug abuse, social media habits, and the overall wellbeing of our children. “It remains our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility and help our children manage the many issues they are facing today, including encouraging positive social, emotional, and physical habits,” she said.
The first lady also started a similar campaign in Ghana, where she visited a medical facility designed to provide assistance to mothers and young children. Despite the media trying to portray her as a “tone deaf” immigrant, her intelligence is on display no matter what she tackles.
In the eyes of Democrats, there can never be an admirable Republican woman, but conservatives know we have a rockstar with Melania Trump. For years, liberals have criticized society for being obsessed with what women wear and how they look. Perhaps it is time for them to practice what they preach by treating our first lady with the respect she deserves.

Of course they won’t. Laura Bush was one of the most literate first ladies ever but yet the Ds criticized her as never having had a job other than being married to #43. Laura was employed as a librarian.
