The Privilege of Being Remembered Like a Dead White Man (BARF)

Did you know that houses owned by black Americans are undervalued by an average of $48,000 per home? Combined, this makes for 156 billion dollars in losses—a discrepancy called a “segregation tax.” I didn’t know this either, until a recent study by the Brookings Institute articulated exactly how pervasive this brand of bias is, and the obvious generational impact of it.

If you comb through enough data and listen to enough anecdotes and read enough books and know enough black people, little nuggets of the effects of racism and anti-blackness will continue to reveal themselves, like post-credit Easter eggs when watching The Avengers.

I really don’t get the whole issue about real estate discrimination. If you really think that people will not by from or sell to a black person because of racism, then go through a white real estate agent and shield your racial identity. It’s not complicated or difficult.

Did you know that I don't give a rat's ass?

Should have made a better investment.

The author is consumed with “whiteness”.

White this, white that, white up, white down, white over here, white over there.

He makes his living by putting whitey under a microscope.

I wonder what he would do if whitey were suddenly gone - poof?

He would likely go crazy. He wouldn’t have any further reason to live.

His bugaboo demon, his raison d’etre, his whole world, would dissolve.

He would melt away like the Wicked Witch of the West.

What a sad, sad person.

Yep, this happens in just about every city and town. There are nicer areas which people are willing to pay more to.live in.

Then there are less desirable areas which are cheaper, because they aren’t such nice areas.

This guy apparently is angry that areas of big black population are frequently in the less desirable neighborhood category.

Not only that, but this black racist doesn’t mention that these houses may be in high crime neighborhoods.

The authors say they were unable to measure crime rates and did not include that factor.

Pretty sure every house-buying site includes a colored map of crime rates, many by block/neighborhood. Considering that's one of the bigger factors most people use in buying a house, they're skipping a big part of their study, and my guess is, is it's the main explanation for their study results!
