Despite the capture of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, the criminal group continues to export "wholesale" quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl through crossing points located along the Mexican-California border: AZ, NM, and W. Texas.... the Sinaloa cartel "maintains an international expansionary footprint" in comparison with other groups, says the Drug Control Administration (DEA) in its annual report on drug trafficking which was published this Friday.
SINALOA- continues to export "wholesale" amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl through crossing points located along the Mexican border .... These drugs are distributed in cities such as Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Denver.
CJNG: In second place, the DEA locates the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho", which it lists as the most recent and one of the most powerful in Mexico and the United States.
For US authorities, the rapid expansion of the CJNG is due to violent clashes with its rivals and state and federal security forces. "El Mencho" is indicated to have presence in LA, NYC, Chicago and Atlanta, and in 22 of the 32 states of Mexico.
JUAREZ CARTEL: Behind the CJNG , the DEA places the Juarez Cartel, led at the time by Amado Carrillo, who "recently expanded the trafficking and distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine" to Denver, Chicago, and Oklahoma City, across Mexico's border with El Paso, Texas.
GULF CARTEL: On historical Gulf Cartel, the US dependence said it maintains its operation in Tamaulipas and like the Juarez cartel, recently entered the trafficking of heroin and methamphetamine.
"They smuggles most of his drug shipments to South Texas through the border region between the Rio Grande, Valle and South Padre Island. The Gulf Cartel maintains a presence in Atlanta, and has key distribution centers in Houston and Detroit, "he said.
LOS ZETAS: On the other hand, the DEA sees Los Zetas as a cartel "significantly decreased in recent years.
Its members, he explained in the report, "traffic cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana through key distribution centers in Laredo, Dallas and New Orleans, and have a known presence in Atlanta."
LOS BELTRAN LEYVA: The report indicated that the Los Beltrán Leyva cartel traffics marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine, and maintains distribution centers in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta.

I’m certain the jurors involved in the El Chapo case have good security. At least, I hope that they do.

Of course. Busts of kingpins are no more than photo-ops, as they were during Prohibition; the ongoing demand for the product ensures that there will be suppliers.
El Chapo’s sons are running his drug business.
