Toxic ideologies often start around family dinner tables. It's not just an uncle saying a racist joke, or a grandmother determining her xenophobic ideas as a part of her time. These comments seep into how we make decisions in voting booths, how judges rule in their chambers, how teachers guide students in school classrooms, how employment decisions are made, and how police react in high-stakes situations.
After a year of relentless atrocities that dont always make for easy conversation at the dinner table, it's important to make Thanksgiving preparations beyond the tablescape and the menu. This year, I want you to prepare for something a little more nuanced than stuffing or cranberry sauce: I want you to prepare to rock the family boat, with important discussions that stretch beyond the surface of How's the weather? and Who are you dating these days? So, I'm coming to you with a guide that should push you beyond apathy, and instead, teach you how to be a part of the solution. As Angela Davis reminds us, it is not enough to not be racist. You have to be anti-racist, and if you are not actively being part of the solution, then you are a part of the problem. So here is some language to help you navigate Thanksgiving day dinner.

“So, if I only ask for white meat, Im a racist?”
I’m only cooking a breast. I guess I should expect a visit from Black Lives Matter.
NONE of this is what Thanksgiving Day is all about:

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all of you!!!!
LOL!
Not this crap again.
You’re just lucky your family isn’t a bunch of Vegans who think that “Meat is Murder”.
LOL! Will add it to my collection.
Who wants Dark Meat should do.
Better get more turkey.
The terms “drumstick”, “white meat”, & “dark meat” date to Victorian times when saying leg, thigh, or breast was considered beyond the pale.
That would really stink.
I’d prefer a double cheeseburger and fries with some onion rings for Thanksgiving. An RC to drink.
My wife gets really irked at my choice. It has to be the big overkill meal.
Solution: Do not invite toxic Leftists to your Thanksgiving table. They are no fun and are looking to pick a fight. We gave up on one couple in our family group after they ruined the happy gathering.
When asked when we were getting together, we told them the truth and suggested they work at the Salvation Army soup kitchen instead of having to put up with the rest of us. We briefly missed them, but very briefly.
It’s a good day to take a nap on the couch.
If someone starts that, I’ll come back with:
Me: “Aren’t all white people basically racist?”
“Why yes, I believe they are “
Me: “I don’t allow racists to lecture me on race”.
I get driven to the brink of insanity over stupid things that are guilt by association. Dumb sports stuff. I hate sports in general.
It was discussed by El Rushbo, Hannity & others as being outrageous & rude to the Thanksgiving spirit, deliberately bringing up politics to cause hard feelings & argument.
This Rachel chick goes even further, saying that if you don’t totally ruin your family’s holiday meal, that you’re....you got it....a RACIST!!
I’m sure the staff at Chipotle’s is glad to see that gummy gargoyle grin storming through the door.
The left has sucked the fun out of everything they have touched. Now even Thanksgiving needs to be a droll, ponderous, dragging affair.
We did Cracker barrel one year. My grandmother died a few months before.
No one else seemed interested.
I had a cheeseburger and fries. Spouse had some traditional stuff.
