Why don’t Republicans like Cindy Hyde-Smith know enough to sometimes smile and say nothing?

Why can’t Cindy Hyde-Smith just shut up?

It doesn’t look like Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith is in any real danger in the November 27th United States Senate runoff election in Mississippi; but her foolish tongue has given the Democrats something to campaign on.

This is sad, infuriating and so unnecessary.

The “offensive” remark was something about attending a public hanging.

Of course Mississippi Democrats are trying to turn this into a Hyde-Smith endorsement of lynching African Americans.

It's not likely that this will move African Americans to the polls in larger enough numbers to win; but why, oh why can’t Republicans learn the lessons of the past and just shut up?

Her Democrat opponent Mike Espy has taken no public position on abortion thereby ceding the pro-life issue to Hyde-Smith who has been endorsed by the National Right To Life Committee.

This should be a big plus in Mississippi which is among the top 5 most pro-life states.

In the three way special election Hyde –Smith failed to win, perennial candidate Gene McDaniel skimmed off 16.5% of the conservative/Republican vote which was probably drawn 100% from Hyde-Smith.

There was a regular US Senate election in Mississippi held the same day.

In that race incumbent Roger Wicker got 58% which is nearly exactly what the combined Hyde-Smith and McDaniel vote was.

The 41.4% Espy got last week was is high water mark as a new post-Election Day survey shows him trailing Hyde-Smith 50/36.

The map of Mississippi counties won and lost by Republicans and Democrats in both elections serves as more proof of a strong edge for Hyde-Smith because there were no differences.

This says McDaniel did not take a single county away from Hyde-Smith so his support while weak was evenly spread out across the state.

The only available post- Election Day poll shows Hyde – Smith with a 14 point lead at 50/36 which supports the idea that his 41.4% on Election Day was his high water mark.

The Margin of Error in the survey was 6.1% which still puts Hyde-Smith ahead.

The missing 14 points are likely still angry McDaniel supporters.

Election Day numbers show incumbent Republican Senator Roger Wicker got 516,000 votes.

Compared to the 514,000 votes for Hyde-Smith and McDaniel combined, this means only 2000 Republicans who voted for Wicker refused to vote for Hyde-Smith.

This strongly suggests that McDaniel’s endorsement will carry Hyde – Smith to victory.

While some of McDaniel’s supporters might stay home, of course, but that number will not be enough to make a difference.

Hyde-Smith has double the money Espy has and a 14 point lead in a race even the left calls “Solid Republican.”

Everything points to a Cindy Hyde-Smith victory.

So why can’t Hyde-Smith just shut up?

A Hyde-Smith hold of this seat means we will have 54 seats and not have to be concerned with what Murkowski Romney or Collins do or say.

The McConnell judge confirmation machine will hum non stop until he gets the remaining 111 vacancies filled with conservative men and women.

If you actually heard what she said and think it had anything to do with black people, LET ALONE the leap liberals have made to lynchings, then you need serious mental help. I think the reasons we don’t just smile and act docile is because if we do liberal wack job media leaps of logic will become even more of the norm.

You mean the party didn't stick a knife in a mans' back based on fake made up charges from activist Democrat kooks and their Weaponized media tool?

Prominent officials didn't get on national TV and urge people to vote for the evil Democrat candidate on the basis of unprovable accusations?

Well good, because that is how you lose an election.

Well this is what happens when you "Moore" Kelly Ward, though they didn't quite do her as badly as they did him.

Fifty-three if Florida goes against us. Still isn't sixty-two though, is it?

She can't keep her mouth shut because of her paty affiliation. -Tom

From Right Wing News 2007 by JOHN Hawkins

The “stupid party” moniker has often been applied to the GOP, but seldom has it been more applicable than it is to today’s Republican Party. (This article is from 2007)

The Republican politicians, insulated from the real world in D.C., are too timid to take on the Democrats, too arrogant to listen to their constituents, and have an antagonistic attitude towards the grass roots activists who should be their biggest supporters.

No matter how big of a screw-up the Democrats make or how outrageous their behavior is, they can also count on their Republican pals across the aisle to meekly cut them a break while simultaneously going out of their way to irritate conservatives. …..snip

be careful; the blame game works both ways. I read in another thread that moore and arpaio failed to endorse mcsally. a total dick move that could have easily cost us the few votes we needed to over come the uberliberal whacko.

so, careful.

About this, I agree with you. I liked Arpaio as Sheriff, but he should have butted out of the Senate race. He had no possible chance to win, and he only served to hurt Ward.

Trump should have called him and asked him to get out.

Not sure Ward would have won anyway, but I think she had a better chance than uninspiring McSally.

you can have this conversation with yourself this time.

I’ll simply observe that you’re going to a lot of trouble to defend a guy that admitted that he dated 14 year olds when he was 30-odd. and, you’ve been doing it for a while now.

Trump needs to get this party united before 2020, the good news is that a lot of the NeverTrumpers have been purged.

He said no such thing. He said he dated "teenagers" and of the ones mentioned, they were 18 at the time. He vehemently denied dating a 14 year old. That was the lie thrown at him by one of the Activist Democrat kook women, and was unsupportable by the available evidence.

Why would you repeat this deliberate slander? I'll assume for the sake of civility that you were just misinformed about this.

Why do I defend Moore? I liked the fact he stood up for the Ten Commandments. I liked the fact that he defied a Federal Judge in doing so. I think we should have had more of that over the years.

It's that simple.

Another lousy candidate going up against criminal Mike Espy for a senate seat in Miss. Hope we don’t lose this one too.

I've seen some of them grow out of it. I've seen others that are still irrational about Trump.

The way the Democrats control the airwaves, I'm not even sure if Uniting the party is going to fix what is wrong with the country.

53.

Having 53 will at least prevent a coalition of Collins-Myrrhcowskee-Mittens from derailing us.
