I went to vote before work. I live in the 7th Congressional District in Virginia currently held by Republican Dave Brat. This is one of the House races that has received national focus and a target for the Democrats. The district was modified to make it more a toss-up district. Rep. Brat's opponent is Deep State Abigail Spanberger, she worked for the CIA. The Democrats and their allies have poured enormous amount of resources in the race. Tons of robocalls, knocking on doors, billboards, and Spanberger ads on every conceivable media delivery system. I live in Chesterfield county, part of the Richmond metropolitan area. The polling place was the most busy I have every seen for an off-year election. My particular polling district should lean to Brat but there are a lot of Yankees who moved in, I am one of them, so who knows if they will bring their stupid voting preferences with them.
Brat was up in he NYT poll, and a very conservative friend of mine just moved into the district. Good Luck !
Hope he hangs on.
I am in the 7th District as well and voted for Brat this morning. In my polling area in Henrico County, there were a fair number of “yutes” and people who looked like they were voting for Spanberger. I am a little concerned, but I think that a strong turnout in the rural areas of the district will put Brat over the top.
And then you have the ever-odious RINO ex-senator, John Warner, supporting the dem Spanberger. I guess the money he sponged off his ex wife’s father, Paul Melon, isn’t enough and he needs fame to feel relevant. Lord, protect us from ego-maniacal politicians.
I do not live in Brat’s district but I am endorsing him. There, I nullified Warner’s endorsement of Spanberger. Just like my endorsement, his is just as worthless and meaningless.
Can't believe he's still alive. With friends like him, who needs Democrats ...
Democrats put there money into organization, get out the vote and advertising. RINO PACs put their money into consultant friends, wining and dining, and advertising fees for which their consultants and them get a kickback.
I hope Middle Resolution is active in this one. I assisted the Brat campaign in defeating Cantor in the primary. He is one of the good guys. Dave was among the first Reps to use the immigration issue to his advantage.
My best guess is Brat wins by 3-5 percent, but that is just my gut talking. It will be close.
The D’s have outspent the R’s 10-1 this election it seems.
I was visiting the Bay Area of California last weekend and the ads were at least 10-1 for the D’s.
I could tell there were a lot of conservatives though and not all of them are registered R’s. Many are registered I’s.
I wish the conservatives had their own party but I guess it wouldn’t be large enough to win and would probably just help the D’s win because it would split the votes for the R’s. Better to make the R party more conservative and less establishment or at least less uniparty establishment.
I was number 506 at about 9:45 am. in my precinct.
Not a big crowd. I am in the west end which should be strong Brat territory.
A lot of older folks go out between 10 and 2 to avoid the crowds, I know my parents are voting for Brat at that time.
I was voter number 248 in my rural Boone County MO polling place, 8 am this morning. Line was split into three and the parking lot looked like Sunday morning after church. By comparison, I usually see about 250 voted ahead of me in the evening of an election.
I’m in Spotsylvania but I voted absentee last month as I was scheduled to work out of state today. Turns out I’m off do to another schedule change. I have no idea if Brat can win; this district is constantly demographically altering and is so funky geographically I dont know if anyone can predict it.
