A new Zogby survey shows widespread support for Trump’s placement of troops on our border

American political history was turned upside down in 2016; since his election there is only pre Donald Trump and Donald Trump.

On Tuesday regardless of the names on the ballots, every race will be Donald Trump against the Democrat.

Trump is the candidate in every race whether the people on the ballot acknowledge that or not; and this is a referendum on his performance thus far.

The numbers from a new Zogby’s survey show, given the overwhelming good economic news he has produced, this is good news for Republicans and bad news for Democrats.

Combined with a new Rasmussen survey showing national support for President Donald Trump at 51%, Zogby’s survey shows lots of good news for Republicans.

Speaking to likely voters about their feelings toward Trump’s placement of troops on our southern border, Zogby reports these findings.

Majorities of voters in the east, south, and central regions (56-62 percent agree/38-44 percent disagree) support deployment of troops.

The only region where there was a majority who disagreed was in the West (51 percent disagree/49 percent agree); which is far lower than could have been expected and not much help to Democrats.

Majorities of likely voters in large cities where minorities live, agree 55/46.

In small cities, (probably more White) likely voters agree 67/34.

In suburbs (more White) likely voters agree 56/44; and in rural areas where Whites predominate agree is 57/44.

Democrats disagreed 68/31 which greatly diminishes the power of the issue as a motivator for them; because it is not higher than Democrat resistance to everything else Trump does.

Republicans agree with Trump 91% which says he has not lost any of his base despite the continuing barrage of attacks from the left.

In an additional bolster of the reports that independent voters are supporting Trump, Zogby found they agree by 53/47 which is similar to the 42/36 overall support for Republicans among independents recently reported by the New York Times.

Sixty six percent (66%) of men agree while the number for women was 50/50.

This will be a motivator for men to vote Republican; but the issue will be no help to either party among women.

Likely voters 18 to 29 disagree 57/43 which is a smaller pro Democrat split than could have been expected.

This issue’s potential to help Democrats on Tuesday appears to be diminished by reports that millennial enthusiasm to vote is off this year.

Nevertheless, older voters who have been voting and firmly support Trump agreed 69/31 which will be a boost to Republicans on Tuesday.

The Zogby survey also helped build a clearer picture of the level of support for Trump among Hispanics.

Since August when Hispanic support for Trump hit 45% there seems to have been no further polling.

In this vacuum it is probably fair to use the 51% “agree” among Hispanics to estimate a 51% approval level of Trump/Republicans.

Coupled with the 40% African American support for Trump recently found by a Rasmussen survey there is ample evidence of a coming Brown Wave on Tuesday.

The strength of the African American half of the Brown Wave can be seen in the fact that the White incumbent Republican governor of Maryland is crushing the former head of the NAACP and getting 21% of African American support in doing so.

Maryland is 30% African American.

The Hispanic half shows up in the Texas special election in September that saw a Republican who lost by 15 points in a race for the same seat in 2016, win by 6 and take a seat held by Democrats for 139 years.

The district is 68% Hispanic.

Moreover, the New York Times reports the re-election problem New Jersey Democrat Bob Menendez is experiencing centers on boosting turnout in four heavily Hispanic and African American counties that have not showed a lack of enthusiasm for Democrats in the past.

New Jersey Democrats believe many of these voters might not show up; but they should be worried that the wrong ones will show up and vote Republican out of support for Trump.

Zogby cannot be described as pro-Trump in any way, so this is impressive news.

Look at Survey Monkey. They are pretty good with rolling polls.
