The media is more focused on whether the shirt was appropriate rather than the violent mob beating.
On Friday, numerous Kenwood High School students in Baltimore, Maryland physically attacked a fellow classmate for wearing a shirt with a Confederate flag on it, students say. A video of the apparent brawl, wherein multiple students are seen assaulting a classmate as a teacher unsuccessfully tries to break up the mayhem, has since made the rounds on social media.

It was all going well until Neal Young had to remind everyone that Southern Man is a "RACIST", which in turn made a bunch of folk not want Neal Young around anyhow.
Actually it’s pretty much the same.
Both are risky, foolish, and maybe even deliberately tempting, but even so, neither response is actually justified.
Actually this is just outside the Beltway and down from the great old historic Martin Airport.
But I still wouldn’t be surprised if certain demographics held sway.
In contrast, black kids at a majority white school get to wear their Malcolm X and Black Power shirts (perhaps even a "Kill Whitey" shirt), all of which are much more unambiguously racial than the Confederate flag, without any fear of something like this ever happening to them, because if it did there would be hell to pay, not just for the perps, but for the school system. Funny how that works.
Actually that didn’t apply until much more recently - as everything else that’s gone down the drain.
It’s not inner city. Not even city. It’s county.
Baltimore is now Amish territory. Totally!

You seem to believe physical assault is justified based on what someone is wearing. I don’t see how that’s different.
