Jesus Told Satan “No.” Who said, “Yes,” to Satan?

You know what a nation is. Sometimes called a nation-state, it is a geological area under some common authority. That authority is legitimate and just if it operates only with the consent of the governed. A kingdom can be the same, that is, a geological area, with the authority being a monarch. Our progenitors didn’t like the monarch ruling this land and argued, successfully, by war, that we were to be a federation of nation-states, separate and equal, and, recognizing His authority, under the King of kings with every man also a king, every woman a queen, not subject to government except by consent. But “kingdom,” (as is “principality” or “empire”), is also a term that can be used to mean an area of influence or interest including some not geological, but commercial or power-wielding. We hear of publishing kingdoms (or media empires) or energy kingdoms (or empires). Maybe “kingdom” in this sense can be likened to “corporation?” These kingdoms/empires are areas of influence or interest which are run by those in authority, such as magnates, (like monarchs), who make decisions regarding them. I believe that a great many of them are fine men and women. The Devil said that he could give all the kingdoms (or empires) of the world to anybody he wanted and offered them to Jesus, if only Jesus would worship him. (Luke 4:5-7) Jesus rebuked Satan and did not agree to take possession of the kingdoms of the world at that time and rejected doing the will of Satan. (Luke 4:8) After that, Satan might have gone off looking to give some of the empires of the world to others, making princes of those willing to do the Devil’s work. Whaddayathink? Did the Devil find anybody willing

The only way to know the truth is through the gift of discernment, politically it abounds here...

That's exactly the warning in the sailor's warning: the experts could tell the weather but not the signs of the times.

The sailors were caught completely off-guard by the storm that Jonah caused, because he wasn't in the forecasting model.

It's amazing how plainly the chapter reads when the correct algorithms are used.

Be blessed.

So did Adam.

You must take in account the resurrection. Satan didn’t tempt Jesus with an empty test. Those kingdoms and their glory we’re his through Adam’s fall. Now the kingdom has come and the church has been given the authority to drive back the darkness and destroy the work of God’s enemy.

Herod knew where Jesus was born, and roughly when He was born. Beyond that he didn't know Him well enough to distinguish Him from any other small child born in Bethlehem.

Keep in mind that at the time this "temptation" took place there is no record in the Gospels of any public miracle by Jesus that would have given anyone an indication who He was.

Due to Herod’s murder of Jesus’ contemporaries, Jesus was the only male his age from the neighborhood and days earlier John (the Baptist) had pretty well identified Jesus as who takes away sin...

The original post is all about Satan exercising power; giving the empires Jesus turned down to people willing to do satan’s will. Forgive me if I got lost in this thread, please.

I see. So if Jesus had accepted Satan’s offer, then Satan would have made Him the emperor of Rome shortly afterward? I’m finding this all so unlikely.

**Keep in mind that at the time this “temptation” took place there is no record in the Gospels of any public miracle by Jesus that would have given anyone an indication who He was.**

Keep in mind that there is no record in the Gospels of Jesus calling himself the Son of God. Yet Satan personally dropped in on this man out in the wilderness, and dared him to prove that he was the Son of God.

Wrong!

He told the Samaritan woman at the well, and he also declared “I and the Father are one.”

Huh? How many times did Jesus refer to God as “my Father” in the Gospels? And Luke 10:18 — one of the most remarkable lines in the New Testament — is clear proof that He was no ordinary man.

Let me clarify my hastily typed comment (made while preparing to release the air brakes and “hammer down” with my backhaul)......

Satan challenged Jesus to prove he was “the Son of God”. Jesus never used that phrase to define himself up to and including that time. He did later though.

As far as alluding to his standing as a son, the first time he made any mention of his Father was after Mary and Joseph found him, 12 yrs old and teaching the scribes in the temple.

You are correct that the temptation was prior to the beginning of his 70 week long ministry.

And he constantly told his disciples to be silent about who he is. It was the best kept secret on Earth among his sheep.

Is that in the Bible somewhere? If not, can’t be true.

Emperor of Rome, Moscow, Paris, the whole world. Well, maybe not... satan has been known to lie. I wonder why this episode is even in The Word of God. It’s not like it’s believable, huh, AC?

I hope you’re not just trolling... There are many true things that are not in the bible, don’t get hung up on such a falsehood as you seem to be.
