People drawn to oppose the war subsequently joined opposition to the government which was Nixon by the time the movement gained strength, so the majority simply became democrats in order to counter the republican administration.
Ironically, they ended up fighting against the freedoms they believed in.

These victims groups are just a means to an end.
They use division and tearing down of traditional institutions to get control. All of this divisive mess would disappear once the left consolidates its power.
