Patrick Bumatay is the second openly gay person to be nominated by Trump to be a federal judge.
President Donald Trump recently announced another wave of judicial nominees, and among them is an openly gay conservative, Patrick Bumatay.
Trump nominated Bumatay to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, based in San Francisco, the nation’s largest federal appeals court. It hears cases from nine Western states and has 29 judges; there are currently six vacancies.
Bumatay is an assistant U.S. attorney in California handling various criminal issues, including opioid abuse and transnational organized crime, according to the White House. He went to Yale and Harvard Law School, and the White House said Bumatay is a member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association.
Bumatay is the second openly gay person Trump has nominated for the federal bench, according to the Washington Blade. The first was Mary Rowland, a magistrate judge who Trump nominated to be on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in June; she is waiting to be confirmed by the Senate....

Are you against this nominee because they are of Philippine heritage?
Are you against this nominee because they are homosexual?
Are you against this nominee because they are asian?
Are you against this nominee because male and gay?
Or, are you just against this nominee because they aren’t leftist democrat?
AND, Are you against this nominee because THEY LEFT THE PLANTATION?

Suppose a case like Masterpiece Cake came to the 9th circuit, how will he decide? Will he base it on the First Amendment, or will he base it on his own personal proclivities?

This is smart politics. Feinstein and Harris are on record opposing the guy, so, in California it will not set well with many “LGBT” who are NOT LGBT activists seeking to tow the totally Leftist line.

Not really. Most of us (and most conservatives through history) haven’t given a damn what a person does in the privacy of their own home. It’s only after they started telling us all they needed special privileges and became missionaries for homosexuality that we objected.

We have an issue here.... the issue of “protection against discrimination”.
The problem here is RELIGION ( which is EXPLICITLY PROTECTED IN THE FIRST, Note, THE FIRST, Amendment ), be it Christian, Muslim, Hindu or what not, considers homosexuality and its acts sins, or perversions.
Given two opposing views, which one should the constitution protect when the views clash?
IMHO, protection against discrimination applies only to protection against exploitation, work discrimination, harassment, etc. In other words, CIVIL RIGHTS have to be protected.
However, religious beliefs ought to be protected too. The law cannot COERCE and FORCE someone to provide a service their conscience and deeply held religious beliefs forbids them to.
They call this gay man a conservative.... I hope he lives up to the label.

100% agreed. I don’t care what he does in privacy with consenting ADULTS, as long as he follows the constitution and rule of law and doesn’t legislate from the bench. I really don’t think PDJT would approve of this appointment if he didn’t know this guy would be conservative.
