Fat man hasn’t applied to his eating problems
I am happy that the author found a way out through the bible. A lot of people have.
Bill W. did too. Bill W. also has helped agnostics.
Does the author share why AA failed him?
Haven’t read the link. AA typically doesn’t fail anybody. Usually the other way around.
That said addiction is very complicated for a couple million reasons.
Do you know me personally? Do you know how much I way? Do you know how much weight I have lost in the last 8 years? Didn’t think so! Your ignorance and accusations are evidence of your judgmental and critical spirit.
AA failed to point me to the One and Only True God who could not only completely deliver me from addiction, but make me a new creature who no longer needs a drink or a drug to provide me with temporary satisfaction. AA told me I would always be an alcoholic or drug addict; which proved to be false.
AA cannot do what Jesus Christ can do within the human heart.
Our pastor has been talking about how the Ten Commandments is a guideline from God on how to live a good life. God designed the universe. These are the rules for living in the place that He designed (like an owner’s manual). Yes it is a sin to go against these rules - but it is also just dumb, because it isn’t the way the universe is designed - or how things work for best results.
One of the other pastors was saying how the Hebrews had just fled slavery in Egypt, and God gave them the Ten Commandments so that they wouldn’t have to live in slavery to themselves now that they were free.
We are not a ‘’God’’ oriented program . WE refer to “God’’ as we understand him, only in the sense of something greater than ourselves that could restore us to sanity. You will always be an alcoholic just as I will always be. AA 12 steps, which are spiritual in nature, and if practiced everyday will over come the obsession to drink and enable the sufferer to become happily and usefully whole. I did for me, for 28 years , one day at a time. Key to becoming sober is an abiity to be honest with ones self.
Gee so you are pimping your own book here. Guess ya got me. Bless your heart
God as you understand Him. May you seek Him now.
So you are no longer an alcoholic, you just control your drinking?
Beware pride, specifically spiritual pride.
That’s because AA is NOT a religious program. It is one alcoholic helping another. It has given me a sober way of life for 28 years. One day at a time.
I know what AA is; I was in it for years, even started a chapter in the Bahamas. The deception of AA is that it leads folks to believe any god is acceptable; which is a lie — that’s the problem. I have no concerns about taking another drink or turning to drugs because the person I once was is now dead — I’m a new person, transformed from within. I don’t have to live everyday in fear of taking another drink — I’ve been completed healed from it, and have been for 37 years.
Ten Commandments can save nor deliver anyone; and Jesus actually set a higher standard by declaring to even. The Ten Commandments were designed by God to show man he has a problem; reality is, man does not have the capacity to keep the Ten Commandments.
NOPE: “if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW CREATURE, old things have passed away; behold, all thing have become new.” The alcoholic and drug addict I once was is now dead my friend, slain by the Christ — The Almighty God who alone can do that. No other god is acceptable, and to turn to any other god is to do more harm than good. That’s the lie of AA, any higher power is acceptable and you’ll have to remain an alcoholic all your life -— that’s a lie !!
Apparently, your father is the “accuser of the brethren,” as Jesus so defined him.
My friend, 38 years ago I had sunk so low that I was ready to blow my own brains out. I know where I have come from, and I know who bought me and brought me — I didn’t deliver myself and neither do I keep myself.
