FULL TITLE: Flake: Not A Chance I Would Have Agreed To Reopen Kavanaugh FBI Background Check If I Was Running For Re-Election
Call this a Captain Obvious moment in last nights joint interview on 60 Minutes. Jeff Flake joined his Gang of Two colleague Chris Coons to celebrate bipartisanship in the form of a one-week delay on Brett Kavanaughs final confirmation vote. Flake, who will retire from the Senate at the end of the year, laments that there is no incentive to reach across the aisle anymore, and that if he had to stand for election he never would have done it:
60 Minutes ✔ @60Minutes Could Senator Jeff Flake have pushed for compromise in the Kavanaugh confirmation process if he were up for re-election? 7:01 PM - Sep 30, 2018 188 216 people are talking about this Twitter Ads info and privacy
Scott Pelley: Senator Flake, youve announced that youre not running for re-election and I wonder, could you have done this, if you were running for re-election?
Sen. Jeff Flake: No, not a chance.
Scott Pelley: Not a chance?
Sen. Jeff Flake: No, no.
Scott Pelley: Because politics has become too sharp, too partisan?
Sen. Jeff Flake: Theres no value to reaching across the aisle. Theres no currency for that anymore. Theres no incentive.
Theres actually an argument to be made for that, but curiously, the interview never follows up on that exchange. Flakes hardly the first member of Congress to lament a lack of compromise and good faith on Capitol Hill; the late John McCain made that a theme of his later career. Voters complain about gridlock almost as often as they complain about compromise, although they tend to blame their political opponents for the former and their allies for the latter in most cases.

So flake never needs to reach across the aisle to side with Republicans once in awhile? Got it
Of course “bi-partisanship” is always revered and celebrated whenever a Republican bends over the whims of a Democrat.
Funny how the media never lionizes any wayward Democrat who would agree with Republicans.
Proving how much of a piece of crap you are...
Good riddance.
Even Rush seems to be unaware that a quorum could not have been established without this action. The Demons were boycotting at the time for the vote and no business could be transacted without a quorum.
Flake is not running for president.
Flakey can’t reach anywhere because his hands are stuck in his pants playing with himself!
What does this admission say about what his final vote in the Senate will be??
Could have changed the rules.
BTW, the US Constitution, Section 5, clause 1, of the Constitution stipulates that a Majority of each [chamber] shall constitute a Quorum to do Business”.
Not without a quorum.
This is why the POS is not running for re election. Even the Blue Hairs of Arizona hate him.
Did both houses of Congress, republicans and democrats alike, disregard Article 2 Section 1 when it came to the installation of a foreign national as POTUS in 2008 and 12?
If Judas Flake honestly thinks he can beat Trump in 2020, that is definitive proof hes made a psychotic break from reality. Right now hes the most hated man in Arizona, probably the most hated man in America.
Flake intervened in the prosecution re the dead dogs. His nrohew should have been prosecuted and punished.
See post 11.
Try following the conversation.
It appears the Dems used Flake as a tool to achieve its desire for a delaying FBI supplemental investigation, but it probably backfired on them.
Re the quorum and vote: IMO Grassley didn't need either in order to advance the ball and any business that was transacted could have been ignored by the senate.
However, both McConnell and Trump immediately agreed to Flake's stipulation as an effective means they could control of resolving any lingering doubts the R fence-sitters may have.
Grassley could have sent it to the floor without a vote or even a negative vote but there is no reason to fear hearing from the FBI again.
Are they going to say all our prior investigations were BS? I don’t think so.
Besides this is NOT hurting the GOP but the Demons. They are showing the entire nation their asses, in technicolor.
