They swear he's not joking. Sources who've spoken to the president about the Supreme Court say he tells them he thinks he'll have appointed four justices by the end of his first term.
"It's all about the numbers for him," one source said.
Asked how he comes to that jaw-dropping number, Trump mentions the obvious: he's already replaced Antonin Scalia with Neil Gorsuch, and there are rumors Anthony Kennedy will retire.
"Ok," one source told Trump, "so that's two. Who are the others?"
"Ginsburg," Trump replied. "What does she weigh? 60 pounds?"
"Who's the fourth?" the source asked.
"Sotomayor," Trump said, referring to the relatively recently-appointed Obama justice, whose name is rarely, if ever, mentioned in speculation about the next justice to be replaced. "Her health," Trump explained. "No good. Diabetes."
Sotomayor has opened up about her struggles with type-1 diabetes, but she's managed it successfully since childhood.
The White House and spokespeople for the Supreme Court didn't respond to requests for comment.
I think Obama had something on Roberts, and its a perfect example of why legislating from the bench on Obamacare was an awful example thereof.
Too bad McShame blocked repeal of Obamacare. We are going to need at least 5 more votes to completely repeal it. But the harm to healthcare costs will be with us for years to come, we are paying thru the nose with high deductibles and rates.
There are 50 federal judges that would be a better SCOTUS head than roberts.
The demonRATs have pix of roberts with a ...
Not only lips, how deep did he thrust his tongue into that beast?
Nice...
I’m hoping for five or six.
3rd - rbg - no need to belabor that a two-time cancer patient who is 85 might croak in the not-too-distant future.
4th - breyer - he’s 80. Lots of folks croak before their 85th birthday.
5th - sotomayor - on-going health problems that are exacerbated by stress.
6th - Associate Justice Clarence Thomas will be 76 by the end of President Trump’s second term. How about we give him a big, richly deserved retirement party around 2021, and pass the mantle to a bright, young, brilliant, conservative THIRTY-EIGHT year old strict originalist?
Yes, try and find a legal Doogy Howser / Sheldon Cooper that graduated law school at 16 and became a judge at 23 or some such.
It is entirely possible. I have been contemplating this for some time.
And Thomas wants to retire.
I disagree with the “legal doogie howser” idea. I’m a little nervous suggesting a 38 year-old judge. General maturity issues. Even at 38, someone has a long time to “grow” on the Court. But a carefully-selected justice might hold true. But, I have no hope that a 23 year-old wouldn’t “evolve” over the decades into our worst nightmare.
Wow! Talk about GROVELING. Anywhere in there he refers to her as Your Majesty? ...that you allow me to send you a personal email every so often. Smh
The Judiciary committee had better get a more civilized procedure in place, and not let another nasty display of naked politics.
Brought to you by, none other, than barak hussein “barry soetero” obama.
Civility in politics started eroding with Clinton. The Southern Democrats .. Nunn, Miller, etc .. are from a bygone era, that although Dem’s, they cared more about the country. Waiting in the wings were the radical socialists that started filling seats, leading to the likes of Harris, Waters, Booker. The Old Guard .. Durbin, Pelosi, Feinstein, etc .. seeing that their grasps on power are starting to fade, are getting even more radical to prove their worth. In the future we’ll be seeing Cortez and more like her, with the country becoming more and more divided.
And lets not forget about the impending violence that may take place. The Left has already issued statements saying that when Kavanaugh gets in, it’s going to get violent. See Cruz and his wife being chased out of a restaurant. It ain’t gonna be pretty.
And what will they do if the President gets to replace Ginsburg, real soon, and maybe even two more. Potentially, he could put 5 to 6 people on SCOTUS.
But Kavanaugh takes the court from a swing activist-liberal to a Constitutionalist court. If that wasnt bad enough, Kavanaugh also put it on record at the hearings that he fully supports the Constitutional use of military tribunals for acts of treason. This is the defining moment for the Left. They are about to lose everything. This is why they are blowing their political capital on Kavanaugh.
Mary Tyler Moore was barely 80 when she died. She had Type 1 but kept herself healthy all her life, she really worked at it. Sotomayor looks very unhealthy, and if she is passing out due to blood sugar issues, she is no MTM. Id say age 69 is optimistic in her case.
We need Thomas there until all the women Obama appointed are gone. Ginsberg is hanging on by a thread.
No doubt, a young man, fresh from the bloom of youth, can accomplish great things.
A great general at 20? Sure. But at 20 (or 23), it is unlikely yet that ANYONE is a great judge. And, living in the sewer that is Washington, DC, it seems very unlikely that a youth of 23 would not become bent by the cesspool of evil in which he works and lives by the time he was 43. And then, he might serve till 83.
Anything is possible, but it is imprudent to expect near-miracles.

Good points for sure.
Davis’ obsequiousness is obviously his MO to get a job in the Hillary admin.....too frickin’ bad she lost (/sarc).
Few men in history have ever been able to summon up the kind of slavish loyalty he has for the Clintons......
shameless, transparent deceit and corruption. not even a trace of integrity......like the Clintons.
Lanny Davis once told Hillary that she was the best person he has ever met in his whole life..... that's Lanny shooting for the USSC.
The vacuous Davis is now the lawyer for Michael Cohen.
