I go this from Heinlein:
Never sit with your back to the door. 999 times out of 1,000 it will not be your enemy coming through. But there is that 1,000th time.
And I don’t. The best spot looked like the corner table in a side seat away from the door so you can see the door well but don’t get trapped in the corner but can easily.

Neither do I. Force of habit, now. Even my wife knows what side I’ll sit on, and intentionally moves to the opposite.
My kids used to josh me about it, but they’re older now and completely understand why.
