After attending a Donald Trump rally of steel workers in late July, a Chicago columnist wrote this.
I left the hall thinking: Donald Trump is going to be re-elected in 2020. The Democrats dont have anyone who can touch him. Bank on it. Dont hate me for being the one to tell you.
Of course he was right, but he was far more correct than he realized.
While it is very true that the Democrats have no one who can touch Trump in 2020, they have no one who can touch Trump in 2018 either.
The news that former President Barack Obama has decided to campaign for Democrat candidates this cycle is very good news for Republicans.
Obamas hatred for Trump has forced him to try to go nose to nose with Trump in a death match to decide which man has the support of the American people.
In sending out Obama, the Democrats have sent out the family dog to fight a bear in their backyard.
Such battles never end well and this one wont be any different.
Obamas endorsement has been worthless in the Black community for at least four years and in at least one case, Obamas endorsement was an absolute kiss of death.
In the closing days of the 2014 Maryland governors race Obama was probably looking for an easy score where he could stand on a stage with a Democrat candidate who was going to win anyway and grab some of the credit for a big victory.
He must have looked at the 2014 race for Marylands Statehouse and thought he had a winner to attach himself to.
He was very wrong.
In fact he was poison to a campaign that was well on its way to winning.
In the nine posted surveys, used by Real Clear Politics up to the day Obama made his appearance on stage with Anthony Brown, the Black Democrat Lt. Governor of Maryland, Brown had an 11.7% average lead.
After Obamas appearance, Browns campaign crumbled.
The first poll released after Obama joined Browns campaign, was started four days beforehand it showed Brown +13.
It was a New York Times survey of over 1000 likely voters.
The next survey released a few days later showed Browns lead had fallen to just 2 points.
The final poll of the cycle, released eight days before the election, showed Larry Hogan, Browns Republican challenger with a 5 point lead.
On Election Day, November 4, Hogan beat Brown by 4.7% to close out a spectacular 17.4% turn around after Barack Obama, who was still President of the United States, involved himself in Browns campaign.
The October 19, 2014 Obama/Brown Get- Out The- Vote event was covered by the Washington Post.
It is worth noting that the article included the following paragraphs.
Although Democrats outnumber Republicans more than 2 to 1 in Maryland, Brown has struggled to keep a comfortable lead over his Republican opponent, businessman Larry Hogan. Part of the reason is that Brown hasnt locked up the support of African Americans, who heavily favored Obama in 2012, according to a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll released this month. In that poll, 77 percent of likely African American voters supported Brown. In 2012, Obama won support from 97 percent of black voters, according to an exit poll.
Here are some of the comments that appeared at the end of the Wapos report.

I see many walked out, but the Post dutifully reported the Democrat line. It is almost as if you aren't journalists, but just Democrats with By-lines. Although I'm sure the taxpayer paid trolls will be on the board saying it didn't happen, other journalists have provided the pictures.

Dan Milbank covered this yesterday in his opinion piece. And there was video on last night's news showing people streaming out while the President was speaking. Whatever the reason, they did not stay to hear the speech and there were hecklers too.
This is fact, not spin, and sadly, this piece is the opposite, blatant spin filtered through the liberal prism of what they want us to believe, rather than what actually took place.

So many reports of the crowd walking out. Are they all untrue WP? For instance is this account from a British paper total rubbish? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2799603/cr...

For a more accurate report on what happened in Upper Marlboro today, read the New York Times, and its analysis makes it painfully clear the Dems, especially the President, are in trouble:

Two years later Barak Obama was still not a driving force that could move Black voters to the polls in support of Democrat candidates he endorsed.
In the week before the 2016 Election Obama was franticly trying to ward off what he knew would not only be a defeat for Hillary Clinton, but a bitter defeat for validation of his presidency.
He was reduced to first pleading with African Americans and finally making up bogyman stories about how the evil Donald Trump would undo all of the progress Obama had delivered for Black America.
They didnt believe him; because they hadnt seen any progress.
These paragraphs appeared in The Independent, a UK newspaper covering Obamas attempt to sway Black voters:
President Barack Obama has made an urgent plea to black Americans to get out and vote for Hillary Clinton, warning that otherwise policies he has enacted to benefit them will be reversed.
Citing data suggesting that early voting among blacks is far below what it was when he was running for president four years ago, Mr Obama said that if he is elected president, Donald Trump would reverse every single thing that weve done in the past eight years.
His appeal comes as early voting patterns indeed suggest that enthusiasm among black voters for Ms Clinton is lagging dangerously, which could demolish one of the principal pillars of her strategy to win. It could spell particular peril in key swing states like Florida and North Carolina. Im going to be honest with you right now, because we track, weve got early voting, weve got all kinds of metrics to see whats going on, and right now, the Latino vote is up. Overall vote is up. But the African-American vote right now is not as solid as it needs to be, Mr Obama said on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, a radio program popular with black listeners.
A few days ago the results of a Florida governors race survey came out; and one of the data items confirmed that Barack Obama is steadily losing his influence among African American voters.
The survey, conducted by the St. Petersburg Times which is owned by the New York Times, showed that 16% of African American voters declared their intention to vote for Republican Ron DeSantis over Black Democrat/socialist Andrew Gillum.
Moreover another 5% said they were undecided about where their vote would go.
To ease into his new role as Campaigner in Chief and Savior of The Democrat Party, Obama decided to go to safe territory and hold his first BIG RALLY in dripping blue California.
You can just imagine the excitement in the air as the whispered adulation could be heard in Democrat circles, Barack is coming, Barack is coming! We're saved!
What could go wrong?
When the crowd started to file into the Anaheim Convention Center which has a capacity for 7500 people, just 750 showed up!
Just one tenth of the room was filled with spectators the report indicated were paid for George Soros puppets!
On his first day at school little Barack had his lunch money stolen from him by a bully named reality.
This was a clear indicator of how far Barack Obama has fallen on the Democrats must see list.
No one, not even Democrats paid by George Soros cares what Barack Obama does or says.
Donald Trump fills stadia to overflowing with giant TVs outside to accommodate those who could not get in.
Those crowds dwarf the few who took their paycheck and took their seat to listen to Obama whine about getting kicked out of Disneyland for smoking.
This jerk bragged about breaking rules to people who dont care about rules.
The entry of Barack Obama into this years campaign cycle is a gift for Republicans; he is poison and his coattails are virtually non-existent.
That is just it, who needs a reminder?
If there was an enthusiasm gap between GOP and dem voters this election, the re-emergence of Obozo certainly eliminated it and not the way the Dems were hoping for.
The sudden appearance of Obama opens a lot of Republican wallets and motivates the party’s voters. His timing is very beneficial.
Darn this article. I was hoping that socialist Ben Jealous would trot out Obama to campaign for his in Maryland this year. It would further seal the deal for Hogan (Not that I’m a big Hogan Fan)
Please pay no attention to this leftists. Just ignore him.
We will see. Their Big Dog vs. our Big Dog. May the best Big Dog win.
I cant believe the coverage Fox is giving Obama, yesterday a screen tag read, Obama and Trump Campaign. If I see or hear Obama, I instantly change the channel...I cannot STAND to see or hear that arrogant bastard on MY tv screen.
Obama has never had to fight in his life....he’s in for a shock....
Thanks for some healthy perspective, Kevin. Personally, and aside from politics, I cannot stomach listening to Obama speak. He always speaks in a halting and stilted manner which just oozes personal arrogance. It is so offensive and off-putting. Clearly, he fancies himself as this great and wise sage. The obvious reality is, is that Obama is a pompous fraud. Obama got elected by being Black and then he was a complete and utter failure, and all the world knows this.
Mene mene tekel upharsin.
