(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
Was never really a fan of their music, but there’s no denying she had a beautiful voice. So sad. She was a pretty major figure in the 90s alt scene (the music era of my wayward young adult years...)
prayers... may God bless
I always liked this song.
here’s a nice unplugged version..

RIP Dolores
Consuming vast quantities of a liquid that is considered a depressive couldnt possibly have contributed to her depression
About 25% of alcoholics are clinically depressed. With or without booze.
Unless you are under 30 (in which case you might have an excuse), you need to get out more. The music that the Cranberries put out in the mid 1990s was stunning.
Being ignorant of the culture around us is nothing to be proud of. Life is too short to be so close-minded to what is around you.

I’m old and I never heard of them either.
.
Well then the same goes for you then!
What a shame. She was a wonderful talent.
Dont know about the number but I accept it. Still doesnt undermine what I posted
They curse a lot
A lot are cute though
Two #1 hits in the mid-’90s and a few Top 200 albums. Hit it big in ‘93 and were gone in 10 years. A nice run, but hardly music icons unless you’re in a very narrow age group or being pretentious.
Just a stat to help people realize a huge factor in alcoholism. Many drunks could be helped tremendously if they addressed depression early on. Wouldn’t make them any less of an alcoholic, just one that has a better opportunity to not destroy their life(or lose it altogether).

Actually, I span the big band/swing era to now. I know much about each milieu but not being a DJ I don’t know every freaking group/artist. Caveat: I don’t know jack about contemporary and care less. All the good music has long since been written...good jazz and country being the exception which keep going strong.
Get out more? Why? Nothing “out there” but trouble.
I too often go back to the old stuff and with regard to music I go back to the Baroque era (even some Renaissance) but there is still a lot of great music being made today. You will never know however if you choose to not even try listening to anything new.
They had three decent hits
Linger
Zombie
Dreams
She was a troubled woman who had taken pro life stances in the past and been pilloried for it and claimed to be a feminist who needed a man
Alas she suffered sexual abuse from a family friend or relative as a young child per her recounting which resulted in a lifetime of angst and psychological turmoil
This is how damage plays out in young girls and boys....its hard to shake forever I fear
Its not something Ive ever faced and we are now cheapening that level abuse with shrill claims of he pinched my butt and Im damaged or he said I was pretty at work blah blah blah.....all that crap dilutes genuine super destructive experiences like Dolores experienced as a prepubescent girl
Poignant voice she loved her family and eschewed stardom
Excellent post.

During the bleak gun metal gray despair of the Obama years I found myself immersed in the older stuff out of nostalgia for when America was still America.
I wouldn’t even know where to find modern pop music on the radio and totally disinterested in looking it up...especially so since most of these entertainers are obnoxious and politically outspoken in the wrong direction.
Tks Sam
Thanks———and the day I feel bad for not recognizing a popular pop group has not come yet,and never will. :-)
