It’s a great post, and I know how you feel!

This opinion is not new. You can find these thoughts in very old literature.

Perhaps it’s worse now because more “marginal” (stupid) people survive because we have it so good these days.

the government and the divorce industry has been instrumental in getting the fatherly role out of family life. The media has also contributed as you won’t see one commercial where dad, no matter what ethnicity isn’t labeled a dummy and MOM is the family “patriarch.”

We are a bunch of ungrateful half grown adults

**************

It seems we live in an age where children act like adults and adults act like children.

Yesterday’s Kavanaugh hearing was a case in point. The nominee’s children were well behaved while the Democrat senators acted like children throwing tantrums.

Spoiled children who are given everything seem to have trouble adjusting to life’s realities. Their sense of entitlement and demands for instant gratification makes for disappointment and frustration later on when their expectations are not continuously met.

A well written post.

I was born a few years later. We had electricity and indoor plumbing.

My four older sisters remembered when we had neither.

Society has allowed so much to make it harder to raise children today. One has to be DIFFERENT and the kids have to knowt they are not to “follow” but to lead.. be the difference in the group.

Divorce, living together without marriage, having kids without fathers, thinking welfare is a way of life... living for freebies and work is shunned... hard work is avoided... Just the mindset of today’s society is so screwed up, it’s unrecognizable to what I knew in the past. We knew folks. The local bank knew us all. We had a dime store, a clothing store, a shoe store, a drugstore, a grocery store, several churches, the schools were run by the local folks.. school board.. we had Bible in schools, there was no tolerance for rude and bad behavior... the bus drivers could discipine the kids on the way home.

It was a way of life we knew and now, we know what we had!

The first family who had indoor plumbing in our little burg, ran the run off pipes into the nearby creek. It was clear and we could wade in it... it had minnows, etc you could see from just looking in the water.
With that run off, the creek was not inhabitable. They didn’t have regulations as to run off waste, back then. But you could tell what happened if you did.

I don’t remember another family getting a bathroom there for a long time. There was a toilet outside.

I have 2 bathrooms now in my home... I have a framed picture of an outhouse in both... as a reminder from whence I came. The Sears catalog was in most of the outhouses... not ours.. we had TPaper.. Grandma said she was not going to have a catalog in hers.

Yesterday’s Kavanaugh hearing was a case in point. ***

It’s gotten so much worse in the past obama years. He gave a wink and nod to anyone who wanted to stir up trouble.. and they have. They are not embarrassed, they are rude to the point of crossing the line, they don’t care who they hit they only care about their selfish and left progressive desires.

I have no patience in any of them. It isn’t free speech any more.. it’s harrassment and endangerment.. it’s destroying property and hurting people.. they should be arrested on the spot.
They are yelling in the hearings... empty the seats... take them all out. Giving in, avoiding... is not the answer.. get them out! for once, give them the consequences they deserve.

Giving in just invites an escalation of the disruption. Its disgraceful to watch this nonsense going on in the U.S. Senate.

We need a little more “thank you” Jesus.

And to be thankful for what we have as much and what we haven’t.

The victims of these generation believe they never make mistakes, it’s always someone else’s fault when a mistake is made, and they are entitled to special rights and privileges. There are no boundaries or rules which apply to them.

We have allowed this to happen by “spoiling” our children. Now it’s time to pay up ...

Maybe we need another World War in which everyone has to contribute or be on the front lines.

Young people have no concept of sacrifice in America. None. Their idea of sacrifice is going without their gaming machine for a night.

The scariest part is 20-40 years old will be considered “kids”

Spent plenty of time in facilities with mine and the wife’s mothers. The hired help then was nothing to write home about. That was several years ago. It scares heck out of me to think about the future help.

It would make a difference, but today’s youth would not do as they did in WWII. Everyone volunteered... hollywood volunteered... we felt we had been attacked and we were ONE for our country. Life changed.. rations were set in... women went to work to replace the men who were in the war.

Today’s youth are not taught to give.. to be loyal.. to make life a better place... etc. (Some are being raised right.. I know that)... it’s the noisy and ‘in your face” ones that we see.

Yes, what kids have today is a far cry from what those of us who grew up during the Depression had. However, I don't begrudge it to them.I worked hard so my kids could have more things than I had. They all turned out well, so it must have worked.
