Aides expect Trump to go rogue on Manafort pardon
The Politico ^ | August 24, 2018 | Nancy Cook

President Donald Trump’s lawyers and a cadre of informal White House advisers claim they’ve convinced him not to pardon Paul Manafort — but White House officials expect the president to do it anyway.

The president’s characterization of his former campaign chairman as a victim and “brave man” is being read by aides as a signal that Trump wants to use his unilateral authority to issue pardons to absolve Manafort, according to eight current and former administration officials and outside advisers.

“Trump is setting it up. He’s referring to the investigation as a ‘witch hunt’ and saying this never would have happened to an aide to Hillary Clinton,” said one former campaign official....

He should pardon him, IMO

The solitary confinement is reason enough.

Oh the humanity.

I think he should pardon him as well - on Nov 7.

Manafort has been railroaded and is a victim of selective prosecution.

Trump is absolutely right that no aide to clinton would ever go thru this.

Nevertheless, Manafort appears to be guilty of at least some income tax evasion related crimes so I think he should serve a couple of more months.

I actually also think Trump should pardon michael cohen for the same reason.

It would be the ultimate “Trump” move.

I want to see that back stabbing a-hole turn it down !

The convictions this week were issued in the federal court in Alexandria, VA; the solitary confinement was ordered by a judge overseeing the case vs Manafort in the federal court in the District of Columbia. That trial is scheduled for next month. The president wouldn’t pardon before both trials and all appeals were concluded.

The DOJ apparently looked at Manafort’s crimes some years ago and decided not to pursue the charges. He was perceived (correctly) as part of the “swamp” in which they all dwell. THEN he signed on with and helped the one who would dare to drain that swamp, and suddenly the crimes became prosecutable. He had to be taught, and to be a lesson to others who would dare work for their annihilation.

What happened to Manafort could happen to any one of us or all of us, as most everybody has made slight errors on their tax forms.

And of course, when you are tangentially associated with President Trump as Mr. Manafort may have been, you assumed guilty by our current attorney general..

“I want to see that back stabbing a-hole turn it down !”

There is no constitutional mechanism to turn down a pardon.

United States v. Wilson, 32 U.S. (7 Pet.) 150 (1833)

The decision was that if the prisoner does not accept the pardon, it is not in effect: “A pardon is a deed, to the validity of which delivery is essential, and delivery is not complete without acceptance.

Sure; exercising Constitutional Presidential authority is a “rogue” act when the left doesn’t like it.

I came home at lunch one day and found a $22,000 dollar bill from the IRS in my mailbox. I’m still paying it. Often wonder if it has anything to do with my posting history here.

You folks out there in America land, have got to realize and come to terms with the fact that the Democrat Party & their Media goons, along with their DOJ/FBI cronies are fighting for their political survival. “THEY HAVE TO BRING POTUS, DONALD J. TRUMP DOWN”, or they die on the political line of failure.

See...it’s quite simple, Mr. & Mrs. American voter, you go to the polls on November 6, 2018 and you cast your votes for every Republican running for either U.S. Senator, House of Representatives and Governor of their state. When that happens....the Democrat Party is dead politically.

You do have two choices, good folks, one, you give the full power of the federal government to Donald J. Trump and his Republican Party and they save, build, maintain freedom/opportunities for “ALL” Americans, & the American Republic or, you give the political power to the Democrat Party to weaken & destroy this nation Republic. Give the Democrats ten to twenty years of rule and you all will be speaking either Russian or Chinese (They are coming, the handwriting is clearly on the wall).

You all better think long & hard about how you are casting your vote this election cycle. Inside, the Democrat Party,”Big Brother” (He is always watching you), is both alive, well & criminal inside the Democrat Party!!! The Russians & the Chinese love it!!! Wake up, people!!!

Support, POTUS, Donald J. Trump....Go, Trump, Go, MAGAm Go, America!!!

The IRS makes mistakes constantly. Hoping you had a tax attorney/registered agent review that bill before they got a penny from you.

Another “Politico” preemptive strike piece aimed at preventing the president of the US of doing his job.

How low that publication has come as it continues its descent into the garbage pile of leftist journalism.

January 19th of 2024 is fine by me...

Manafort and that dick, Cohen may have been caught by proper means but, this is not the way to get there and the process is out of scope

Manafort was put into solitary for trying to influence witnesses but the defense had no witnesses.

Talk about persecution and this is the US not some 3rd world $hit hole.
