Commentary: Newspapers don't help themselves by coordinating against Trump
CBS News ^ | August 16, 2018 | Michael Graham

If you are a Trump voter who thinks that much of the press is reflexively hostile to the president, 300 of America's leading newspapers want you to know that you might be on to something.

In a self-defeating act of journalistic groupthink, America's editorial pages launched a coordinated protest against President Trump on Thursday, all running negative editorials attacking the president over his #FakeNews rhetoric.

The Boston Globe, who organized the effort, calls it "educating readers" about "an attack on the First Amendment." But to the average American, seeing an editorial in their local paper trashing Trump is called "A day that ends in 'y.'"

Seriously—Who's going to be persuaded by this effort, or be impressed that a few hundred newspapers can hum the same tune? Who's even going to notice?

Well, the newspapers will notice, of course. There's a run on pain pills from all the muscle injuries inflicted by self-indulgent media back-patting. "A Free Press Needs You," a New York Times editorial headline blared on Wednesday, praising themselves for "answering the call" of the Boston Globe and courageously facing the threat that is Donald Trump.

#FakeNews? That phrase is "dangerous to the lifeblood of democracy," the Times intoned. "And calling journalists the 'enemy of the people' is dangerous, period."

And to prove we aren't the enemy, we in the media are going to band together and go after the guy who keeps saying we are! The same guy we attack every day, seemingly no matter what he does, and in ways we've never attacked a politician before!

That might be an unfair characterization, but it's easy to understand why Trump supporters would see it that way. They remember the Obama administration spying on reporters....

Neither have I.

Not sure what I was thinking... as a diligently-intentioned young lad, reading the Sunday Times (it was “T”imes back then to me, not “S”limes) almost cover to cover; globe too.

They're not "journalists." They're apparatchiks.

If the Dems really wanted to defang Trump
They should just stop fighting him
He really shines and is in his game as a counterpuncher
And he blasts hypocrisy wherever it is found

What would Trump be like with no enemies?
I suspect he’d get bored and find something else to do

President Trump’s forthcoming Tweet on this crap fest of collusion should be as sweet as it is devastating.

The journalist is the star of their story it’s all about them. And tells the reader what to think.

A reporter is a gatherer of facts like a good scout and delivers those facts for the readers assessment Allowing the reader to think for themselves.

That’s a big difference.

1987 Mike Wallace and Peter Jennings profess that they are journalists first and Americans second - they would lie in wait and film the carnage if they had advance word of an impending attack on US forces by the enemy

CNN covered up torture abuse and murder under Saddam Hussein to keep their Baghdad bureau.

They don’t report “all” news, even all bad news about leaders of countries. Just anything they can trot out about Republicans.

the Boston Globe ran staged UK photos of a man peeing on another man falsely claiming that it was a soldier peeing on an iraqi prisoner.

the New York Times had Jason Blair making up quotes and even making up sources.

They don’t help themselves at all. They don’t have reporters anymore. They have copywriters. Copy this story. Copy that story. Copy, copy, copy.

journolists, that was the name they themselves were using when their coordinated efforts were first uncovered.

And they still network online.

Good of them to once again go miles out of their way to prove President Trump is right about them.

The MSM whines about getting criticized by President Trump all the time. They never stop to ask why such a large percentage of the public agrees with him.

“Much of that starts from the assumption that Trump voters are backward, and that it’s our duty to catalogue and ultimately reverse that backwardness. What can we do to get these people to stop worshiping their false god and accept our gospel?” - Will Rahn, CBS - comment made around 2016

People in the news media seem to think they are our appointed doctors and that all conservatives are sick. Like Will admits, the media is a cult trying to convert us.
