** I don’t think Trump would be at home with much of what the Libertarian party stands for. **

Ain’t that the truth?

Yeah, the media would forget about President Kamala or whatever idiot the Dems go with, and begin a 24/7 fellation of the GOP candidate, Kasich or whoever.

Remember, our enemies have both parties.

It’s one of the few ways Trump could lose.

No, he just needs to be more aggressive in taking over the Republican party. He is leader and needs to fill those shoes. Have it cut funding and support to Never Trumpers, give more direction on picking candidates, etc.

It would be interesting if Trump ran for both the Democrat and Republican nomination.

He should win the Republican nomination as a sitting President, no problemo.

In a crowded Democrat field, he should pull 20 - 25%, which would be enough. Remember, Trump did not break 30% amongst Republican primary voters until almost all of the other candidates were gone.

If he pulled it off, Trump would be on the Fall ballot on both the Demorat and Republican lines. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

I know a few die-hard libertarians personally, and they are for open-borders. That’s a big strike one, right there.

Not worth discussion, Trump basically engaged in a hostile takeover of the GOP, and will continue to drive out those who refuse to get on board... one way or another.

To go effectively form and build up a new party??? Silly. And yes, if you were to to go Libertarian you would effectively have to build a party from the ground up.

Libertarians are hypocrites...

You cannot say your right to live free allows you to oppress another... And libertarians believe your right to live how you want allows you to deny the fundamental and inalienable right to life to another person...

That’s not liberty, that’s the complete opposite of liberty.

You cannot use your right to liberty as a justification for the oppression of another... yet they do.

Until the libertarian party is honest about its position on Abortion, it is a party that does NOT live up to its name.

I'm a little-'L' libertarian and I am not at home with much of what the Libertarian party stands for.

It would be interesting to see him “create” a new party and call it the “Constitution” party.

Sorta like the way some FReepers "create" their user names.

I know a few die hard Republicans who are ALSO for open borders... what’s your point? HE should not be head of a party that’s for open borders? I agree...

We all know that the GOPe is for the cheap labor that comes across the border. That’s nothing new. Trump is also prolife. It’s a fantasy for anyone to think that President Trump would leave the GOP for the LP, after he has made good relationships in many areas for his policies. He’d then lose mist of the support he already has. Plus, he’d then have to face a OP candidate in 2020. That’s just a stupid idea.

That would require Trump to promote both open, unfettered borders and free drugs for everyone, including children...

Yep, another couple of congressional and senate election cycles and he’ll start to have some legitimate allies in Congress as well.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... I am amazed at the number of dumb replies on this thread. It was a DISCUSSION topic.

I mean seriously- "he would have to support open borders to join the libertarian party" geebus that is the dumbest thing I read all morning.

The point was NOT TO EMBRACE the idiot policies of any Party (like the one he is actually in right now), the point is to DUMP the one he is in because it is filled with RINO corruptocrat swamp-dwellers anyway.

And if not the existing Libertarian party the maybe a WHOLE NEW party that rejects all of the corruptocracy, and follows the constitution.

HE IS NOT HELPED BY THE CURRENT GOP, SO EFF THEM.

Does anyone here think that his supporters would reject him in order to save the GOP party? (in it's current form)

I suspect just the hint that he was going to do something like this would shake everything up.

Anyways, maybe we can reignite the glorious FR flame-wars of the late 90's...There were few snowflakes in those days...
