vanity: 'Splody Head for eGOP: Trump Runs As Libertarian
8/13/18 | Mr. K the KnowItAll

Posted on 08/13/2018 10:17:59 AM PDT by Mr. K

Trump is going to win in a landslide... So he should announce he is running on the Libertarian Ticket in 2020.

Get all his supporters to switch to Libertarian the next day.

Relegate the eGOP to third-party status overnight.

They are just a bunch of feckless wiener-heads anyway, and part of the swamp-dweller class.

If Trump is attractive to libertarians (and I believe he is), switching isn’t necessary.

It would be interesting to see him “create” a new party and call it the “Constitution” party.

There already is a Constitution Party, and Trump might be more comfortable with their positions than with those of the Libertarian Party.

No need to discuss a silly idea like this.

He DEFINITELY should seek and run as a libertarian in any state which allows “fusion” candidates. That is, a few states, like New York, allow various parties to nominate the same candidate. So you can choose whether to vote for Trump, The Conservative Party nominee, or Trump, the Republican Party nominee... and either way, your vote goes to President Trump. (I use Conservative Party in this example, because AFAIK, the Libertarian Party of NY ran a different candidate.)

But in most states, there’s a HUGE chance that yes, the GOP-e candidate would finish third, and Trump would finish 2nd, and the neosoviet candidate wins 1st and gets the presidency. Can’t risk it.

The Libertarian Party platform doesn’t include strict immigration standards and a border wall.

Won’t fly with Trump.

“but there is a critical need to ridicule it.”

Heh. Can’t you just see Trump embracing cutting defense spending by 50% and opening the borders?

Libertarian? Jeez!”

Does not need to be the libertarian party. HE could form his own

OR run totally independant

The vote would be split, as the republicans nominate a candidate and there are a lot of GOP senators up for reelection in 2020. Your scenario is a disaster. The dem would be easily elected. That will show them, but the joke is really on you. Not to mention the libertarians have zero infrastructure.

Since governments, when instituted, must not violate individual rights, we oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary and contractual relations among individuals. People should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of individual rights, is the free market.

So a world without borders? No thanks. All of those "contractual relationship" ideals work fine INSIDE the USA.

Yeah, great idea! Split the Center Right into two or more parts to take on the Left.

Please, refrain from this foolish thinking. Trump has effectively taken over the Republican Party. Why would he want to give it back?

I’m not much of a loyal republican anymore, but I’m even less a liberaltarian.

“Relegate the eGOP to third-party status overnight.”

Yeah, the third party that would split the election enough so that the Democrats would win. Great plan.

We might break the inter-webz.

Just for giggles, there were some threads before Trump was elected wondering “What if”?

What if Trump ran as a DEMOCRAT?

Troubling questions. Troubling answers.

Never mind. He should emulate Silvio Berlusconi and form a whole new MAGA Party.
