There is not much out there. With repeated hospitalizations and egregious behaviors, almost beyond imagination they can be put in group homes, staffed by foreigners who do not speak English
Hope for some, not for all, there are children who grow into adults who large, violent, perseverative, self harming, abusive, and or unable to do much of anything and need a large number of people to provide custodial care.
Should should apply for a job with the NY Times.
With abortion legal, a woman theoretically has every right to kill her child.
I think parents are afraid that their children will be abused, neglected, or medicated into a stupor in a group home or institution. Or maybe just feel terrified and abandoned.
And they might be right, sometimes. Love and despair at wit’s end.
There was a Dem DA in Nassau County, the late Denis Dillon, who was zealously anti abortion threatened to no longer prosecute those who killed infants on the grounds that there was no difference.

Have heard horror stories of these group homes and institutions. Most of the people are McDonalds workers. Some care but most, it’s just a job.
Yes a lot of these types are abused and even after it goes through the court system they still don’t get justice.
