Best Action Movies of All Time
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 7/24/2018 | C Cocoles

Posted on 07/24/2018 5:55:04 AM PDT by w1n1

The best action movies tend to be the ones where we get a little substance to go along with the shooting; some battles are realistic some not. This list has some of the most awesome action films of all time.

This list of greatest action movies ever has a mix of one man renegades (Die Hard), extraterrestrial thrills (Alien), and science fiction dreams brought to reality on the big screen (Terminator, Jurassic Park).

You'll even find some great comedic performances among the gun fights, smack talking, and explosions. Heck, you could probably fill a New Jersey size dump with all the stuff that gets blown up in these action films.

The list covers a broad time range as well with nearly as many classic action movies making the list as newer, big budget CGI action-fest.

We added a few that aren't on the list but the gunfight choreographs are good and realistic. For the the serious gunfighter movie-goer understands some movies get their gunfights right and some not so good.
This is a fan ranked list compiled from Reddit and Ranker, not based from IMDB. Here's what we have:
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Die Hard
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Matrix
The Terminator
The Dark Knight
Aliens See the rest of this Best Action movies here.

For Your Eyes Only - the car chase with Bond in the Citroen 2CV car was great.

The dance by Capt Eddington’s wife near the beginning was something else.

She was a very bad girl,

Pretty cheesy effects but a good depiction of naval warfare.

The Sand Pebbles, Flight of the Phoenix (both 1966)

The original Flight of the Phoenix was great; the remake not so much.

DeNiro is slime but “Ronin” is definitely up there

Two - count ‘em, two - great car chases.

Some great lines, action sequences and gags, like when they show the same stock footage of a car going off a cliff and exploding in two different scenes.

Best war movie I’ve seen in years is “Brest Fortress”.

Is that the one with Adrienne Barbeau?

I just read that they’re going to do a remake of Enter the Dragon.

Ugh!

I do agree with your verdict on "The Brest Fortress" though ...

...but to quote Steve Martin,"It's like they have a different word for everything!" (without the subtitles) ...

Can’t be done.

Not only is there not an actor as fast as Bruce Lee, there is nobody in film right now like Jim Kelly. Man, he came right out of a comic book. (Or Luke Cage was based on him)

I cannot watch anything with that poofter Clooney in it. Nicole Kidman, however.
