I stopped being shocked or surprised by anything the left says or does. How long can they keep their ginned up outrage machine running at full tilt? I thought that they would run out of gas after a matter of months or a year, but here we are, 3 years since Trump announced he was running, and the outrage machine is humming right along. CNN doesn’t care that its viewership has dropped 25 percent, I’m sure George Soros will keep them afloat.

the Left takes concerted action and never seems to tire - our side earns a victory and takes a long vacation...except we all talk a lot....

You've hit on the Catch-22 of the whole situation. Those who believe in open discussion of ideas will be drowned out by those who believe in concerted mob action.

We? Some people are fighting and I would go so far as to say “we” are winning. That being said, progressives are like rust or entropy. They can’t be defeated, only constantly fought.

We would gladly fight enemies from abroad, but not from within.....it seems to me.

Just How Far Will The Left Go?

Russians in the early 1900's may have had good cause to dislike the Romanov family and they went so far as to massacre the entire family, women and children included.

Interestingly, our young left is being taught today by Dem politicians and a screaming press that Trump is unfit, in the process of establishing a dictatorship and is committing all manner of other evils.

It is not inconceivable that our left may well be driven to try to repeat what happened to the Romanovs 100 years ago in July, 1918.

Actually, very few Russians wanted the Romanoffs dead. Lenin ordered their execution to prevent their rescue by advancing “White Russian” troops and their subsequent potential propaganda use as the symbol of the Russian nation to unite the people against the Bolsheviki, who were a initially a tiny minority that had exploited the chaos to seize power...

A good summary, but the title does not suit the piece. VDH does not conjecture "how far" the Left will go.

I think we will see increased violence, assassinations of Republican politicians, and perhaps kidnappings on right-leaning journalists. In extremis, they may even attempt an assassination of the President, or in collusion with their overseas jihadi friends, attempt a mass murder/casualty event against Republican politicians or Trump supporters. (In fact, I think the Las Vegas massacre was the latter, but it was hushed up because the Left feared a massive backlash and civil war.)

The Left has no moral anchor except their own hurt feelings, outrage, and envy. Anything, even murder, in their cause is legitimate in their eyes.

Oh yeah, they are capable of nuking multiple cities to assuage their bitterness.

I expect the 60s and 70s bombings and violence to resume a la Sam Melville, Dohrn, Weather Underground, Ayers, Hoffman, et al.

Just another reason to avoid large crowds in unprotected spaces.

It’s a visual metaphor for their expected ramped-up violence and likely bombings.

Actually, very few Russians wanted the Romanoffs dead...

That is an interesting point. It may be difficult to distinguish between the active or involved members of that society those who merely disliked the Romanovs, wished them simply to be gone or in fact murdered. I limited my comment to "disliked" to avoid the issue.

My point, of course, is the lesson currently advanced is that the murders were the act of a desperate nation wishing to throw off the burden of evil government. Today's lesson is incomplete, as you point out, since the murders were primarily the result of brutal political exploitation. Moreover, the lesson is applicable only of one has a rational basis for concluding Trump truly is evil.
