Trump confirms new paint job for Air Force One

President Donald Trump says the new Air Force One planes will be red, white and blue, a shift away from the classic "baby blue" design that they have had for decades.

"Air Force One is going to be incredible," Trump told CBS in an interview over the weekend that aired on Tuesday. "It's going to be the top of the line, the top in the world. And it's going to be red, white and blue, which I think is appropriate."

A source familiar with the redesign told CNN last week that Trump was deeply involved in the conversation about a redesign of the aircraft, but no decisions had been reached on a final paint scheme.

The President has now confirmed that the changes were coming....

I vote for something like the VC-118 “Independence”. The eagle profile was great without being overdone. I’m also a big fan of that era of paint scheme.

Crazy paint jobs look great for airlines, but I think it would be over the top for the airplane(s) that represents our country.

Nice camo job, particularly the fake canopy. Would work well with a mid mounted wing but not with either a low wing or a parasol wing, as with the Crusader, for example. BTW, how many Hornets does our Northern Economic Dependency have these days - a squadron or two? Talk about defense freeloaders - no shame whatsoever.

The current colors are iconic - you see the 747 silhouette with those colors, you immediately think Air Force One and a president representing the nation abroad. But there's no harm in changing those colors for red, white and blue - even more iconic colors.
