FBI agent Peter Strzok testified Thursday before the U.S. House that the Office of the Inspector General allowed him to decide which of his text messages with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page he would turn over to investigators — and which he would withhold.
The text messages are central to the question over whether the FBI was motivated by political bias in recommending against the prosecution of Hillary Clinton, and pursuing as-yet-unproven claims of Russian collusion with President Donald Trump.

The IG is Horowitz, who was appointed by Obama.
Not that it matters. Trump appointed Jeff Sessions and Rod Rosenstein, who have been much more destructive to the rule of law than Horowitz.
Agreed. But Horowitz went to great lengths to get all of Strzok’s texts. Tried using a DOJ technology to get them all from Strzok’s phone, then went to a private contractor and finally to the DoD and was finally able to get the goods.So it would appear that Strzok misspoke in naming the IG.
Trump could declassify everything and let the chips fall - but he hasn’t done so.Evidently he thinks he’ll get better results on November 6 if he waits for November 7 to do that.

Wish I could cite a link, but it was on FR when the IG report was new. It related specifically, IIRC, to Strzok’s phone. FBI phone, IIRC.There was a lot more on the phone than had been believed to have been there. And Strzok did not control the IG’s (extensive) efforts to find out what was there. There was something the IG report revealed which came from that source, and which the FIB wouldn’t have voluntarily revealed. Just what that was, I don’t now recall.
