“Why in the world would I want to “get inside the mind” of a libtard? Seriously. The LAST place I would ever want to find myself. “

When I find myself ready to get inside the mind of a libtard, I put on “Jersey Shore” and watch for a few minutes. It then makes perfect sense. Only problem I have is getting my IQ back to a normal range.

I don't try to get in their mind. I confront gun grabbers head on, but calmly. I usually hand gesture the ‘time out’ symbol to get a word in and say...”This ends only one way, in bloodshed. My right to self defense is enumerated in our founding documents so governments and people know and understand that it comes from God, not a right or privilege given by men or Governments. So, you will have to kill me to take my guns. Are you willing to kill me? Because I will kill you if you try.” The shocked look on their faces always lets me know I've hit pay dirt. Many for the first time realize they are promoting a civil war as I continue. Freedom sometimes require killing tyrants, their standing armies and their supporters.

Facts, reason and logic are wasted on those who have conflated a learned helplessness with a completely unearned and unwarranted sense of moral superiority.

It isn’t that communists don’t trust people. The fact is that they regard human beings as things, animals or machines. It’s what I call the dehumanization of humanity. Necessary for the Left to participate in their holiest of sacraments - human sacrifice in a grand scale. Monsters, all of them.

The ownership of firearms is a great big digitus impudicus in the face of those who would rule us like cattle.

Why would I want to "get inside the mind" of someone who wants this. Disarmament is not a reasoned position with them it's an article of their perverse religion - liberalism.

You cannot reason with them. You cannot bargain with them. You can only defeat them (hopefully at the ballot box) or be defeated by them. There is no middle ground and there is nothing that you compromise with them about. They want to take something of yours - your God given right to self defense - and give nothing in return.

And lest anyone think that once we've been disarmed that will be the end of it, look to other countries where citizens were disarmed. Look at the madness of Britain where reporting on criminal activities of Muslims gets you thrown in jail* or defending your property from robbers will also get you jailed**, Australia where they are doing away with cash transactions (to better track the activities of their serfs), Nazi Germany, PolPot's Cambodia, early 20th century Turkey, etc

*Tommy Robinson

** Tony Martin Who was almost not granted parole because one of the parole board members was worried the Martin "represented a danger to burglars"

There is freedom and the illusion of freedom. Only free people own guns.

“...one of the strengths of Second Amendment supporters is the willingness to engage with people who want most people in America forcibly disarmed.”

There is no meaningful engagement with idiots. F’em.

This was a good article. It is always a good thing to try to understand what it is that motivates your opponent. This allows you to better counter whatever it is that they have planned. Additionally, it allows you to peel off more moderate supporters of the other side, who are simply unaware of certain facts. I have found that one of the very best ways to turn a fence sitter into a pro-gun individual is to take them to the range. As the author of this piece mentioned, let them shoot a .22 so that there isn’t too much recoil or noise, and discuss gun rights and gun safety with them on the way to and from the range. This shows you to be a reasonable person, not the monster that the anti-gun zealots present all of us as being.

That all being said, there is a certain percentage of the population that can never be convinced that others should be allowed to have weapons, other than the police and the army. It is just like elections: there is no way to convert the hardcore on either side of a contentious issue. The battle is won in the middle, by convincing moderates that you are right or that the other side is either wrong or crazy. My family history includes significant oppression and victimization at the hands of totalitarian governments, specifically both Russian Communists and German Nazis. None of my relatives who were so victimized had any effective means of resistance. I, however, have two advantages over them. First, I am aware of what governments can do to their own people. Second, I live in a country that protects my right to own the means of self-defense. There is simply no way that I will ever be disarmed, not while I’m alive. I simply will not allow myself or my family to be victimized in the future as my distant relations were victimized in the past. I simply don’t give a damn whether the other side likes it or not, and I will defend not only my family and myself, but my right to defend us and our liberties.

As an aside, I would suggest that every serious Liberty lover obtain at least one firearm that is not “on paper.” I am aware that in some states there are plainly unconstitutional laws that prohibit this, but we each have to make our choices. For the record, I very deliberately made a choice while living in New Jersey to violate their assault weapons banned by having dozens of normal capacity magazines. I am no longer living in that hell-hole, now being a citizen of Texas, but if I still lived in New Jersey I would still have those magazines and probably many more. I strongly believe that every person should be very well aware of the difference between actions that are inherently or morally wrong, versus those that are wrong only because of the dictates of other people who do not have your own interests at heart (or who specifically are interested in limiting your liberties and dominating you).

****Unarmed people are often uncomfortable around armed people.***

I still remember the “THIS HOUSE IS NOT ARMED” posters from 1968, and Letters to the Editors of several magazines and newspapers of the family who turned their guns over to the police, then lived in fear of their still armed neighbors. Every letter written the same, every letter published.

The “unarmed” home posters in the window did not last long.

The world is not a safe place.
The one and only time I ever checked out a noise in the wee hours (about 25 years ago) without a firearm, I wound up with the noise maker’s hunting knife embedded in my shoulder.

Anti-gun shirt wearing mom at baseball got into it with me on my NRA shirt. I simply gave her the gun quiz picked up here and at Arfcom

Question: I have 20 guns in my gun safe. 10 are semi-auto. Congress passes law that bans all semi autos and police have authority to confiscate/destroy. How many guns are in my gun safe now?

Answer: 148. I lied about having only 20 guns and I didn't turn any in.

Good article addressing a useful question. One distinction I would make is between those who lead the gun grabbing movement and the followers who also want a disarmed population but not as strongly. I assume you were addressing the second group in this article.

I see no value in reasoning with anti-gun leaders (Bloomberg, Pelosi, and others at a lower level who see disarming the population as their path to power). Interactions just teach them to better shape their message in support of those goals. I see a lot of value in interacting with followers, even true believers among the followers. They can be taught and converted, in part because they may have open minds instead of a hidden agenda, and the facts are on our side.
