50 BMG vs Giant Rock
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 5/30/2018 | J Hines

How well can a giant rock hold up against shots from a .50-caliber rifle?
Shooting .50-caliber is no joke. But, when you go up against Mother Nature, rarely do you win.
Youtuber Edwin Sarkissian takes on a giant rock with various calibers pistols and rifles, that includes:
9mm pistols
.44 Magnum
.22 LR
.223 AR-15
.50 Cal Incendiary

The results is obvious but fun to watch.
This boulder won and stood up to all of these rounds even against the Raufus round with a Tungstun core.
The danger behind this experiment were ricochets, highly suggest you play it safe.
Don't take natural cover for granted. See the full video footage of 50 cal vs rock here.

Yea, I didn’t much like the video about “making firewood” either.

No backstop on a .50.

A number of misses at 20 yards.

Poor gun safety.

I’m not sure what this website and Youtuber are trying to prove, but they are not doing themselves any favors.

I thought putting on a helmet while shooting the 50 straight up was a good move.

I hope the dumbass didn’t start shooting at the distance illustrated.

I wouldn’t shoot at a large rock with even a pellet rifle.
This guy is an idiot just waiting for a ricochet to make him bleed.

That’s why people in combat hide behind big rocks and other very hefty obstacles - because bullets don’t go through them. Duh!

Also pretty DUH! is standing so close to a solid object that you are firing a gun at...it is just asking to go to the hospital or morgue.

BTW, I notice that in this Rock vs. guns test, no one actually gave the rocks a turn on offense. Drop that big boulder on a gun and see how the gun holds up.

Stupid, stupid, stupid test.
