It is wrong to speak ill of the dead. On the other hand, it is an insult to the intelligence of the American people to pretend that Walter Cronkite was the voice of God and universally credible, as Mara Liasson put it on Fox News Sunday. The terrible truth is that Walter Cronkite symbolized liberal media bias and used that bias with disastrous consequences for our nation and the world. His latest cause was world government and the destruction of American sovereignty.

The older folks in my family called him “Red” Walter.
My father still does when conversation about the media come up.

I remember those days well. The only person who thought Cronkite was God, however, was Cronkite.
To: Beowulf9
I had his number before he died. The argument could be made that he is one of the major factors that led to us losing the Vietnam war.
In my book he’s just one notch above Jane Fonda, and that’s only because so much of what he did is so hard to articulate. He may have been worse.

Mara Liasson is also a terrible person. She’s a disgusting lefty so it’s no wonder she praises the old bastard.

The Cronkite most remember is the man who took off his glasses mourning the fatal attack on JFK. Then others might recall, is declaring Tet a communist victory and that “only negotiations” could end the war.

To: Beowulf9
Cronkite was a con artist and
actor—and a total fraud.
Like the old sayings goes "Once you know how to fake sincerity, you've got it made."

After the Battle of Ia Drang valley - our first major engagement Cronkite in a long report on it after it was over said something like “It remains to be seen how long the wives and mothers and the American public will accept seeing their brave boys coming home in caskets.” The FIRST battle!

"Mara Liasson is also a terrible person."And I'll raise you a Nina Tottenberg and her little jug eared Senator from Illinois what was his name, Paul Simon and between these 2 we ended up with the high tech lynching of Justice Thomas.

Walter Cronkite was a self-admitted Communist. He only admitted it after he retired, and did so on the old Larry King Show. All those years as a CBS anchor he was subtly undermining our country.

The media had a great deal to do with the eventual loss of Vietnam even when the American military basically won every battle fought.
