There was a time when working from home was a pipe dream. Thanks to technology like Slack, theres been a surge of legit jobs you can do from home.
Whether thats working remotely for a company or starting your own business theres no shortage of work-at-home opportunities. Here are 50 work from home jobs that most make above the average American salary.
1. Affiliate Marketer
For those unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, its simply referral marketing where you earn a commission. Lets say that you have a website and refer a book on Amazon. When the visitor clicks the affiliate link and buys the books, Amazon will pay you a percentage of the sale.
People love affiliate marketing because you can start earning money passively with little start-up costs.
2. Animator
Are you an artistic and creative individual who is able to create animation and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other types of media? Then you can work at home as freelance animator. Ive seen animators make between $25 to $106 an hour on sites like Upwork.
3. Baker/Caterer/Chef
If you have a knack for baking or cooking, then turn your passion into a side business. From your own kitchen you could start a catering or personal chef business. If youre a baker, you could sell you goods to friends, neighbors, online, or at local farmers markets.
4. Blogger
Blogging is inexpensive and easy to start. It could be as simple as you just writing about your favorite music or food. Eventually, this hobby can start generating some money for you.
Just keep in mind that you need to pay patient when it comes to cashing-in on your blog....

THAT alone should get you banned for at least a week! :):):)
Not exactly the money-making opportunity I had in mind.
Thanks for the article. Great links in it.
Which company do you work through? The highest rate I saw when doing transcriptions was $25 per audio hour.
There are a lot of catalog companies or online stores that hire at-home agents. Some of them require in-person training and some will train remotely. Some of them also have restrictions on where they’ll hire from, due to the laws in different states.
Duluth Trading Company and Swiss Colony are both companies that require in-person training, but you can work from home when the training is done. Amazon hires home agents, and I’m pretty sure they’ll do the training remotely, but it’s been a while since I checked.
There are also a few companies that provide home agents for other companies. Alpine Access was the one I started with. They provided paid training (also from home), lots of support, and it was pretty easy to advance in that company. They’ve changed their name to Sykes: https://www.sykes.com/jobs/work-at-home/
They have several different types of customer service positions. Anything from tech support to order-taking. When I started I was taking inbound calls for a credit card company. Later I took tech support calls for video games. Within a short time I was promoted to training and QA for the video game tech support agents. Unfortunately I had some health issues and had to leave. (The company did their best to accommodate me while I was sick, but it was just more than could be worked around.)
If you go to indeed.com and put your location as “remote”, it will bring up a list of jobs that are about 80% work-from-home. You can refine the search from there.
My area of expertise is medical and the pay is per line @ 63 character line. The rate per line varies depending on difficulty. I work for several companies. I’ve worked from home for 15 years and love it.

RE: veteran interviews - my husband has been doing this for several years. We have about 30 recordings of mostly WWII veterans telling their stories. Most of these gentlemen were speaking about their war experience for the very first time.
That being said, I have no idea what to do with these recordings. Self publish a book? I don’t know.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
How wonderful! Those recordings are an absolute treasure.
How about first write a book, then....sign a documentary contract with Fox or History channel.
Keep recording, keep writing.
I had a patient once who worked for a “clipping service”. She was actually paid to go through newspapers, and clip stuff out. I had never heard of such a thing, and have no idea how much money she made. It was piece work, and she was well off, but that might have had nothing to do with the clipping service job.
You will be a billionaire shortly if true.
Maybe your local newspaper would run the stories in their Veterans Day edition (Nov 11.)
Maybe so :-)
Ahh, ok. Specialization changes the numbers. When I was doing transcriptions it was general, not medical.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet. Is YouTuber in that list?
