Does anyone get invited as such to a funeral? Don’t people just show up if they want to pay respects ?
It’s not like a social event by invitation only.
If McCain is being buried in Arlington, Trump as President should be there to pay respects and say something nice about the Senator’s service to the nation. If he is being buried in Arizona, provide the plane and get him the heck out of DC before he can do even more damage.

Yes. I’ve been to funerals where people who were not wanted showed up. Everyone just ignored them. You can’t really stop them. Like you said, it’s not invitation only.
But McCain may do that. Since he knows he’s dieing maybe he’ll do engraved invitations. Lol
Kerry made a staged appearance at Pres. Reagan’s wake when he passed duringbthe 04 campaign. Fo not think the family invited him, but displayed the good manners the Pres. and Nancy were known for.

Of course you don’t get invited to a funeral, nor have I ever heard of anyone being specifically uninvited, although some hope certain individuals do not show. So gauche to un-invite President Trump. Maybe McCain is just putting that out coz’ he fears President Trump had no intention of going anyway. Or maybe his brain cancer has robbed him of the capacity to think this through sensibly. It makes McCain look bad. McCain’s family should step in after his death and make sure President Trump is advised he would be welcome if he chose to attend.
