Yes, its time again for Cinco de Mayo, the leftist, diversity driven holiday, commemorating the Mexican Armys victory over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
Say again?
Yes, thats the Mexican Army in 1862, 36 years after their fathers slaughtered the Texans at the Alamo. And, the French, of Maginot Line and Fall of France fame.
As an American, in 2018, Im supposed to be excited about all this and spend the day eating Mexican food, drinking Margaritas and watching that foreign, boring and God-awful game, soccer, to celebrate what again the Mexican Armys victory over the French?
Sorry, but Im an American and I want to celebrate American military victories, like June 6, 1944, where the Greatest Generation of Americans landed on the Normandy to save not only Europe, but the planet from a monstrous tyranny. Or, how about February 23, 1945, when Joe Rosenthal snapped the iconic photo of the brave U.S. Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima? Or, how about June 7, 1942, when a handful of heroic U.S. Navy aviators, led by a stand in admiral named Raymond Spruance crucified four aircraft carriers from an Imperial Japanese Navy Combined Fleet that was intent on finishing America off in the Pacific. Or, how about the Battle of Belleau Wood in June of 1918, where U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Dan Daly rallied his other Marines, with the cry of Come on you sons of b*tches. Do you want to live forever? For his heroic actions during the battle, Dan Daly was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I could go on and on and on; because the list of American military victories, the list of American heroes, the story of American guts and glory and American exceptionalism is enough to fill a million libraries.
But, the liberal, shove soccer down my throat, celebrate foreign military victories crowd doesnt want us to love our history. They want us to not only become, as Teddy Roosevelt feared, the polyglot boarding house to the world, but to honor the histories of those foreign cultures.
In the twisted world of America 180, the Boy Scouts are now the Girl Scouts, Mommies are Airborne Rangers and a foreign powers victory over another foreign power is the stuff holidays are made of.
The Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves.
If Americans are going to start celebrating foreign military victories, as a German-American, I want to see American holidays honoring the German victory over the Danes in the Second Schleswig War in 1863, the Germans victory over the French in 1871, the Germans over-running of Poland, not to mention all of Europe in 1939 and 1940. How about a day to celebrate the German airborne troops seizure of Crete?
German-Americans are still the largest ethnic group in America. Shouldnt we be demanding our foreign military victory holidays too? In fact, shouldnt Americans of British extraction be demanding their holidays celebrating the Battle of El Alamein and a thousand other British military successes? How about every other ethnic group in the country?
People argue that Cinco de Mayo is no different than Saint Patricks Day or the Italians Saint Joseph Day. Wrong. Those are holidays celebrating religious figures, not foreign military victories.
As you sip your Margaritas today, just remember one thing, with every sip, American history disappears, a victim of the deliberate cultural usurpation of the United States by the left.
Drinko de Mayo is just a way to sell cerveza to the Gringos. I never “celebrate” it or St Patrick’s Day for the same reason.
Celebrate on this day, the fifth of Miracle Whip!
It’s got the ZIP!
The Alamo. Is that battle taught in the public school system? Or, is Cinco de Mayo?
It was the cargo of the Titanic ...
Hey!
I’ll drink cerveza and eat delicious mexican food if I want to.
Buzz off.
I only celebrate the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. In fact, I made a film about it!
The author needs to put down his tinfoil beanie and step away.
Cinco de Mayo is a drinking holiday.
Inexplicable to talk of leftism or “diversity” boogiemen
Does anyone ever really need an excuse to drink beer and eat spicy Mexican food. I’m just sayin’.
Don’t tell me not to eat Mexican food! :)
Because it is cultural appropriation at its worst!
Wearing Sombreros, eating tacos, yelling “Ole,” doing the Mexican Hat Dance...the horrors!
I guess it’s better than celebrating the birthday of Karl Marx. I’m just sayin’.
Napoleon III screwed up big time.
... and I want my 2 half priced margaritas.
The idiot author doesn’t understand the difference between “celebrating” and taking advantage of cheap mexican style food and drinks.
Have a Corona and relax
Most Mexican food known in the US is really Texan food so eat away. I’m having Chinese today.
O M G! Just saw two ladies go by in a boat with pink somberos....
What a whole bunch of stupid Pollyanna idiocy. It’s a BEER holiday GET OVER IT. It’s no different than American celebration of St Patrick’s Day. Bet this guy didn’t get his panties in a twist in March. Mexicans don’t give a damn about Cinco De Mayo and celebrating it does ZERO damage to American history.
