Desperate appeals made on Fumentos behalf to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota by his friend Patrick D. Hahn of Baltimore have gone unanswered
Never thought the day would come when I would find it a matter of life or death trying to get a message through to President Donald Trump. But thats where I am today.
Courageous Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Michael Fumento, who saw combat as an embedded reporter with United States troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, is in a Bogota,Colombia prison on trumped up charges where he has been held without bail since Easter Sunday. Worse yet, Fumento is without the prescribed medications he needs to keep him alive.
As much as we all have problems with the NY Times and Wash Post, this story needs to be pitched to those papers. Fumento is a well known author, and his apparently dire situation needs to be publicized
Agree!
I was unaware that he is imprisoned.
President Trump will call President Santos and make arrangements to free Michael Fumento.
I don’t know the man and wish him the best, but saying somebody is/was a reporter no longer automatically means they deserve respect. The article also says he desperately needs Clonazepam to prevent seizures. Depends on his original dose and indication. Clonazepam is a Valium class drug with a very long half-life, it often tapers itself.
I also don’t understand from the article why Columbia is coming down so hard on this man. Something seems missing.
Fumento did us all a service in reporting on the AIDS hysteria back in the day. Since then, he’s gone around the bend, hating on Conservatives, etc. I wish him well due to his medical problems, but he’s not what he was.
You are exactly right. I was a contactee with Michael Fumento on Facebook for awhile and Mr. Fumento attacked Pres. Trump so much that I said he was doing critical theory as applied to Donald Trump. Michael Fumento -- a combat photographer -- also called for appeasement of Muslim terrorists. I asked him if he had the Stockholm Syndrome. We began to argue about his support for appeasement of Muslims and his attacks on the President. After Kathy Griffin and her ISIS inspired head of the President, I began to get very angry and told him that he was Ignorant about the Middle East (I was in that region several times, too), so he said my grandparents put my co religionists in the gas chamber and he broke off Facebook contact with me.
And...yes, he does attack fellow Conservatives -- including Col. Allen West (whom I respect very much).
That’s indicative of how weird Fumento’s gotten. Some (so called) Conservatives start out strong and then go around the bend for some reason. Glenn Beck is another who comes to mind.
Have you read "Atlas Shrugged"? Michael Fumento reminds me a little of a character in "Atlas Shrugged" called Dr. Robert Stadler. Dr. Robert Stadler was John Galt's teacher in the massive novel and he sold out. Dr. Stadler went over to the dark side and he paid a dear price for it. I hope that Michael Fumento gets out of this okay, but those Latin American prisons can be real nasty.
Important update: Michael Fumento is out of prison now. Those Colombian prisons are very very bad. Though Michael Fumento is out of prison on his phony charges against him, he is $20,000 in the hole. It is too bad that he attacked Conservatives in his famous rant and angered me a great deal by his constant attacks on Pres. Trump. I called his atacks Trump critical theory because they were so excessive.
