I was just thinking about this:

I have a brother in CA. I call him. He Calls me.
I have a niece in FL. I call her. She calls me.

We have wonderful visits. Why you would let your neighbors and, indeed, the rest of the world that you communicate is beyond me.

As an aside, God told me the same thing about bitcoin.

(only kidding)

To stay in touch with friends.

Much like people would use a telephone, but now you can leave them messages.

Censorship is only allowed by leftists, now, after they’ve screamed for years that we can’t censor ANYTHING, no matter HOW disgusting, because, number one, there’s no harm in watching ANYTHING, no matter how vile, and number two, the first amendment! Liberals have no shame! Their hypocrisy is despicable!

Have been re-reading Nineteen Eighty-Four lately. Something I've long noticed:

Early in the novel it remarks that nothing is against the law, because there are no laws to be broken. That rarely gets touched upon.

And yet Oceania is the most totalitarian nation ever (at least in fiction).

There is no legal law in Oceania, because there is no moral law. There is only the Party, and the power it has. Power is the be-all and end-all of human existence. And the Party does anything it damn well pleases to squash any threat to that power however minuscule or insignificant it might be.

There is no governing morality at Facebook. Not really. There is no governing morality among any so-called progressivism. They are priests of Power, as O'Brien told Winston.

And they will kill you, in idea if not in body.

I regained contact with a cousin I had not seen in many years on Facebook, and a girl that was one of my Girl Scouts when I was a leader back in the seventies——I had not seen her since then.

Read this earlier, one would hope they could find a way to sue Facebook for this. Or that Trump from his place and with his bully pulpit could call Facebook on the carpet about this. Without Trump Facebook would be pretty dead right now.

Dennis Prager used YouTube and lost. They say they only censor against violence or sex, but his videos (Prager U) dealt with conservative topics. And not hard core topics, just NON LEFTIST IDEAS, maybe 2-3 min videos. Many of his were censored and not allowed in schools or in homes with anti-porn filters.

He lost his case, even though all he was asking was that their fine print would state “censorship might occur if the subject matter deals with violence, sex, OR POLITICAL OPINION WE DONT AGREE WITH.” That is all he asked for. The judge sided with YouTube because it is a private company and can do what it likes. I don’t see why it is allowed to lie about its Agreements/terms of service re censorship, though. If he appeals he will also probably be able to get by with the monopoly / utility angle since there is no peer to YouTube for posting videos.

Facebook and YouTube are both virtual monopolies. But why? Do not other similar social sites exist? (I have a Myspace account, for example, altho’ I’ve long since forgotten my password.) Frankly, I use FreeRepublic the way I would use my Facebook or YouTube accounts. Is there no way we could not set up a video-sharing network as well as a discussion forum?

Social media is a big threat to our freedom. They must be stopped.

* * *

It depends on how you define the word “social media”. Free Republic is an exemplary example of social media.

Much like Bell telephone in the 80’s.
I still remember in the 60’s when we kids discovered that we could dial our grandmother on the telephone. And my dad’s reaction to the 200 dollar long distance phone bill. And the corrective discussion with his belt.
