Three Oklahoma teenagers were killed last week when they broke into a house and were met by a homeowner with an AR15. Now the grandfather of one of the teenagers is speaking out about his grandson’s death.
According to KTUL-TV, Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of 17-year-old Jacob Redfearn, believes the death of Redfearn was unjustified because the homeowner’s AR15 gave him an unfair advantage over the three burglars.
Speaking to KTUL, Schumacher acknowledged that breaking into a house was “stupid,” but death was not the appropriate consequence.
“What these three boys did was stupid,” Schumacher said. “They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.”

Funny, having spent a career using M16 rifles, A1 through A3, I don’t own an AR15.
I do have an M1 Garand, and an M1 Carbine. I think of the carbine as the “house rifle”. It feeds JHP ammo just fine, and back in the 90s during the Clinton ban I assaulted it up with a synthetic black stock and handguard and a bunch of thirty round mags.
It’s not an AR15, but it’ll do in a pinch and as an added bonus, it’d make the Pelosi/Hogg crowd freak out.

I enjoy philosophical questions so here we go. Based on the situation in the original post. You are home and hear someone breaking into your house. They dont know you are home and have armed yourself. Do you: 1- Yell out a warning and tell them to “Go away or get shot”. 2- Wait for them to enter, and shoot them without warning. 3- Wait for them to enter, then hold them at gunpoint until the police arrive. If you would take a different course of action please describe.

Maybe had your grandson been raised a little better this would not have happened. So don’t blame the shooter, blame his parents.

When guns are involved in self defense, a gatling gun is the correct weapon.
If you are shooting in self defense, you shoot to kill because you believe you are in peril, which if someone unknown is in your house at night in the dark...you are.
Period.
You don’t shoot to wound. You don’t shoot to scare. You shoot to kill. If the person is shot and becomes incapacitated and lives, bully for him. He lucked out.
All of us here likely know this. They don’t, especially this person’s grandfather. He should know.
The three pieces of scum who broke into house to burglarize it all got killed by the homeowner.
By definition, that makes it a fair fight.
