How do you stop or slow down ads in Windows 10? About to run me up a wall!

Adblock plus. And set the optional No ads thing. Instead of their default “safe ads”. Works very nicely. One or two sites object so we just migrated to other sites.

I was getting a LOT of ads on my Firefox browser. Then I found that an add-on extension had installed itself on my browser without my knowledge.

I run FF and ABP. The only ads I see are when I disable for a specific site. Drudge is one.

Look at the upper right hand corner of the ad. There is an x. click it. Ad disappears. Do not click on their request to explain your action.

Done.

Opera browser has an ad-block built in. It does a decent job for me with zero configuring.

I too use Brave on my win10 box.

Speaking of win10, the last update screwed my puter up so badly it uninstalled itself, then re-installed itself 4 times before it finally stopped freezing the puter.

Pile of crap bloatware indeed.

I absolutely refuse to use that “edge” thingie. Half the sites I go to don’t work at all, and most of the rest don’t work correctly. It’s garbage.

Take a look at Waterfox:
http://www.waterfoxproject.org/downloads
It's Compiled from the old Firefox open source code. All the old Firefox addons and extensions work great.
Recommended extensions:

HTTPS Everywhere

No Script. <= takes a very slight effort for some sites but absolutely stops "drive by downloads"

uBblock Origin

AdBlocker Ultimate

Auto Opt-out for Flash

Auto Copy 2

Empty Cache button <= why Mozilla never included this is beyond me.

Fireshot <= grabs a full screenshot of a web page including the part below that is unseen on your monitor.

Zoom Page <= simple button text zoom for old eyes or to bypass stupid web developers who use tiny fonts.

Decentraleyes <= disables centralized content delivery. Ever look up something on one site and then you see creepy ads for the same stuff on other web sites? This puts paid to that. A must have.

User-Agent Switcher <= no real improvement to browsing experience but helps with privacy. Changes the code your browser sends to a site saying what version of what browser it is to whatever you want.

DownThemAll! <= the indispensable mass downloader that is no longer maintained and with never be compatible with post 57 Firefox

Flickr Size Pickr <= ignore the spaceball.gif and grab Flickr photos by size from the main screen.

O&O ShutUp10

https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

Awesome program for maximizing privacy which includes restriction of ads in Windows 10. There are REAMS of settings spread out in Windows 10 that all have to be set to get rid or targeted Windows 10 Ads and to prevent related privacy violations by the system, and “O&O ShutUp10” turns them all off in a simple program which is kept up to date and which does not require installation even — just run it.
