If he fires Sessions, the Senate will balk on any appointments; thus, the DOJ power will return to the Obama hold-overs.

The Prez is sort of between a rock and the hard place, at least until after the mid-terms. Then, he might gain a couple more (R) senators to improve his chances of moving his agenda and appointees.

Between the recuses and buck-passing, Sessions has been a disappointment. Some think this is a facade and ‘things’ are going on behind the scenes. So far, however, there is little evidence of that.

I really wonder if the Deep State folk have some dirt on Sessions, or his relatives and are black-mailing him. He acts like a man castrated.

Yea, I'm thinking that Sessions has a dirty past and someone knows about it.
Remember how we all thought Dennis Hastert was clean and pure.

Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills and several other folks could easily be convicted of several dozen felony violations of these statutes.

If Trump fired Sessions, 100% of the Democrats and 90% of our courageous Republicans would bitch, piss, and moan that Trump is hobbling the Mueller investigation and committing obstruction. The media would report every second of it. We'd get stuck with Rosenstein as McConnell already said they wouldn't confirm a replacement.

Given the price we've already paid for Sessions, a lost Senate seat, it would be nice if he'd just man up and DO HIS G*DDAMNED JOB!!!

“Politics. The Rats would scteem obstruction.”

Ironic, it would seem that firing Sessions would end the obstruction.

Jason Chaffetz: Sessions Told Me Hillary, Democrats Will Not Be Prosecuted

Judge Janine: Ok, why is he not being charged with a crime?

Chaffetz: I can tell you that while I was in Congress and the Chairman of the Oversight Committee, I did go over and visit with Attorney General Sessions and it was one of the most frustrating discussions I had because whether it was the IRS, Fast and Furious, the email scandal that we went through, I did not see the Attorney General willing to just let Lady Justice administer justice and then follow through. I understood maybe the last six months of the Obama Administration…

Judge Janine: Wait a minute I don’t have that much time. You spoke with Sessions on IRS, Fast and Furious. Did he give you a reason? Did he say he was presenting anything to a grand jury? Yes or no?

Chaffetz: No, he basically let me know he wasn’t going to pursue anything on the major cases.

Judge Janine: So IRS, on the major cases? Are we talking about Hillary Clinton, because I haven’t even gotten to her yet.

Chaffetz: Yes, the email scandal of Hillary Clinton. We had Bryan Pagliano. I issued a subpoena for him to appear before the Committee and he said “No”. He didn’t even show up. We issued another subpoena. The US Marshals served it. And you know in my world, if you’re in court, I guarantee you that a subpoena is not an optional activity. We wanted the Attorney General to prosecute him and he said “No”.

Yes he can fire Sessions at will. Why he has not done so is beyond me.
////////////////////
Two reasons:
If he does, Mitch McConnell has said he would not bring up Trump’s replacement nomination up for a vote in the senate. Rod Rosenstein would be the de facto AG
If he fires sessions Mueller would use the Comey and Sessions firing as proof of obstruction of justice and even though it would never result in Trump’s arrest it would be used by the dems and media to deflect from the actual illegality within the FBI and DOJ. After midterms the democrats would push for impeachment which would happen if they take back the house.
By far Trump’s biggest mistake thus far is Sessions appointment. It resulted in a lost senate seat and national embarrassment and it affective left the country with an out of control partisan DOJ and deep state unchecked FBI. Absolutely disastrous
