Box fed 12-gauge shotgun is the rage right now on social media. But box fed shotguns at the world's largest maker of 1911's is a different thing.
Youtuber Legally Armed America had a chance to be the first gun channels to receive one of the VR60's from Rock Island Amory and it looks like they had a blast!
Rock Island Armory are famously known for their 1911. But in this case they came out with an AR-style, box fed 12-gauge shotgun.
Rock Island didnt just think of making one but listened to their customers. Most customers wanted this in a AR platform as a tactical personal defense shotgun.
All the features are where it needs to be to make this AR shotgun functional but dummy down making it very easy to operate. Here are some of those features:
-Charging handle is an external handle (big size, inverted) well placed on the side making it easier to use while under pressure.
-Sights are similar to the standard AR fixed sights.
-Grips have an ergo type grip feel.
-Accessory rail offers you to custom with vertical handle, lights, lasers and grenade launchers (joke).
Though the box fed only holds 5 rounds, most home defenders can tell you reloading another 5 rounds only takes a second.
Lets not forget this tactical shotgun can also be used for hunting as well. Well don't just read about it, see the footage here - AR style Shotgun.
$489?
I’m in.
Interesting! Is this based on the AR action, or is it something like the Adkal MKA-1919?
Looks like it needs a drum mag. And can you mount a scope on it?
An “assault shotgun” to make the libs’ heads explode without ever firing a shot.
I’ll take 2.
5 Bills?
I’m in.
I have read that, for some box-fed shotguns, shell deformation in the magazine can be a problem, which then leads to misfeeds. In a home defense platform, and especially in a gun with an AR-15 style structure, I would think that could be a real problem.
Good video. Hard to believe the gun is less than 5 bills.
Neat! I understand that most states restrict magazine capacities to fewer shells
The max for migratory birds is 3 and thats a federal rule, not state. Some dont allow the extended mag tube of 8 rounds by state rule to make it less scary. The 5 round mag would be a standard capacity for upland game like quail & pheasant.
NY illegal. Why? Pistol grip. That makes it scary.
A shotgun loading gate is so easy to get to and you’re able to load so easily on the fly. I’m just not sure I see a utility for this. Other than as a cool toy I mean.
So why was the Street Sweeper tactical shotgun banned? It wasn’t even semi-automatic, just had a wind-up drum and was fired with long trigger pulls.
Capacity I guess.
What? Are you also wanting a rifled barrel for sabots? I don't know if I would want to lug this thing around with 20 rounds in it for hunting.
Im looking up sporting purpose in the constitution. Seems to glaringly missing. Hmmm.
I will always hate that arrogant Texan, just like Lautenburg.
IIRC the sweeper had a folding stock and pistol grip, along with the drum mag. Great for room cleaning.
Winchester Model 12 fills that necessity nicely and until further notice.
Yep. It doesnt matter how many it can hold, it matters how many are in it when the Game Warden checks.
