Scores of Russian Fighters Killed in Syria by US Strikes

Earlier on Tuesday, Reuters reported about an unconfirmed number of alleged Russian fighters having been killed by the US led coalition forces during a clash with pro-Assad forces in Syria. The incident happened earlier this month, in the Deir ez-Zor province. Russia’s defense ministry’s statement at the time of the incident tried to downplay the situation, claiming that no Russian servicemen were in the area at the time of the fighting, as pro-Syrian government fighters were carrying out a recon mission when they were engaged by US led coalition forces. However, on Monday, the story changed, as it emerged that at least 2 Russian operatives that were fighting with pro Asssad forces were killed in the respective skirmish in Deir ez-Zor. Other (unverified/unverifiable) sources put the number of Russian casualties in the dozens, and if the deaths are to be confirmed officially, it would make for a huge political scandal for Vladimir Putin, as the Russian military/government is keeping these deaths under wraps, while claiming Russia doesn’t have boots on the ground/operatives involved in the Syrian civil war. One of Putin’s future contenders in the next presidential election is already pressing him to disclose to the general public the real number of Russian servicemen killed in action in Syria, and what were the circumstances of their deaths.

This isn’t our fight.

we’re facing a near-coup here at home and meanwhile getting wrapped up in other people’s intractable problems.

Stay out.

200 Russian dead, many dozens wounded when their forces tried to force US troops out using T72 and T55 tanks.

The Russians were laying a bridge across the Euphrates River for Hizballah, SAA and Iranian backed troops to cross and attack the US base.

The US called in Special Forces troops, a massive arty barrage, F-15s, F-22, Apaches, and Mr Spooky ... So it looks like the Russians and their allies got off lightly ... although there is no info on Russian allied casualties yet but expect big number if released.

St Pete and Moscow hospitals full ...

Time to roll it up Trump. Syria is not our fight. Hillary and Obama’s ISIS is done, get out.

Wasn’t he asking why are we in Syria fighting Assad in the first place? Syria is, or was, a functioning sovereign nation.

Wasn’t he asking why are we in Syria fighting Assad in the first place?

Perhaps. But I just took him at his words. And we aren’t directly fighting Assad. We were there to get ISIS (which is still active) and to assist the Kurds in Iraq and Syria.

Meanwhile, Syria was divided by agreement between the US and Russia - US in the East and Russia in the West with the Euphrates as the boundary line between.

The Russian, SAA, Hezbollah and Iranian backed troops attacked the US forces. Maybe our troops should have followed the Obama policy of run when things get tough or when a line is crossed, but by all means call the lawyers first?

Some people just cannot deal with the fact we are in a religious war, and ignoring it will not end it. Religious wars last centuries, not a handful of years. We are a principle target. Kill them there or kill them here is the choice. Other than the Obama’s suicidal choice of just allowing them to kill us pretty much at will.

A.I.R.: Modern Syria is a compromise construct designed by committee. It is and was only a nation by name. Historic Syria stretched from the Turkish border to Egypt.

Sick, that we are flying topcover for the headchoppers that want to overthrow the Syrian government.

We are the bad guys in Syria. The Obama/McCain/State and Hillary agenda did not change. After Trump was elected, ur neocon Generals have not changed one inch in their goal of overthrowing Assad.

They went after ISIS as a sideshow, because their antics were interfering with the “overthrow Assad” movement. But we are the ones on a side in a civil war. And we are doing so without the slightest pretense of authorization in US law, and with zero UN authorization.

In Syria we basically dropped even a pretense of such legalities.

“They attacked us not the other way around.”

So... we were exercising “self defense”, when we shot up government troops and their allies who were a threat to our utterly illegal base -inside- their country. Thats some weapons grade sophistry there.

“Kill them there or kill them here is the choice.”

Utterly retarded. Is Syria and ISIS building an invasion fleet? You don’t get to let them stream into America, and then say we have to have a war there so they don’t come here. This is most assuredly NOT about protecting America.

“A.I.R.: Modern Syria is a compromise construct designed by..”

And you are basically saying that because close to 100 years ago the Brits drew these borders in error, that we can just ignore their border, roam at will, reorganize the country how our Saudi masters want it? By that logic half the world is at risk of a US attack.

There is nothing ‘illegal’ about our base. A threat to our troops is a mild understatement. They were an existential threat, unless you ignore tank rounds and automatic heavy weapons fire at you as just some sort of popping buzzing noise. It is not ‘their country’, unless you figure that the eastern part of Syria actually belongs to Russia and Iran ...

Who really cares what the UN authorizes? Are you, perhaps, some sort of isolationist?

What does it matter who got who where, when or why? We are there now and have to deal with the situation as it is, not how some nice bureaucrat sitting in a comfy warm seat imagines it should be if we lived in a perfect world, where muslims were not the utter bloody savages they are and were instead actually beneficent and peaceful.

Because HRC wanted to topple Assad, install a puppet government, and her cronies could sign oil leases with puppet government and build an oil pipeline. Of course, that’s after she and cronies loot the Treasury and steal any gold they might have, and then maybe some drugs and arms smuggling, and a little human trafficking - lots of orphans right?

It’s the same darn topple for $$ that they did in Bosnia and Libya.

The Russians have not done crap against ISIS in Syria, they are engaged in an illegal war against Ukraine. I am sorry for this great tragedy.
