I am thinking is it a good goal for the humanity to make our lives completely germ-free? Or is it even possible? What will happen to our immune system? New germs will attack it?

” Completely Germ Free”
Not a good goal. Do they think we are so stupid as to think that all germs are bad germs?

And there is no way that a lamp can eliminate all germs.

The UV light needs to hit every surface in order for it to work. Any tiny crack or fold in a surface will leave an unexposed spot. Also if there is any grime or film on a surface the UV light may not penetrate deep enough. Do a simple experiment. With a ceiling light on (or the dome light of your car) look at all the spots that are still in a shadow.

Bingo. Germs are good. Ask any health care worker who rarely gets sick after a few years of working in health care facilities.

As we make our environment “cleaner”, more and stranger illnesses seem to appear. When we were little gaffers, playing in the dirt helped our immune systems become more robust. Now kids are kept away from anything potentially “dirty”, often by an OCD parent.

Sterilyzing lotion everywhere, constant supervision, stifling rules, it’s a wonder they can walk (they could fall over)!

When I was a kid, asthma was rare. Now it seems that 2 out of 3 kids has some form of it, even though the air is FAR less polluted than it was in the ‘60’s.

I don’t know what the answer is, other than we’re all gonna die someday.

Won’t be long before technology makes our world human-free. That’s the real goal behind it.

Many years ago, I was working with a group trying to use uv light to detect biological agents before they could be used on troops in the field. The uv light caused the biologics, such as anthrax, to fluoresce allowing them to be detected. However, the uv light also cause all biology to fluoresce making it useless to detect dangerous biologics from non-harmful such as simple mushroom spores. If uv light can be used to kill harmful germs, it will also kill harmless germs that just might be beneficial to mankind. If they can’t control for collateral damage, should they really be proposing such? The uv light doesn’t discriminate.

There was a study done on infants and a special bacteria that resides in their intestines that blocks other bacteria from entering the body through the intestine walls. This bacteria thrives on mother’s milk. Also most of the intestinal problems cropping up in kids and adults like cronies and such is linked to a lack of the good bacteria that is supposed to reside in the human body.

Dangerous chemical avoidance is not the point. UV light exposure is damaging..sunburn, eye damage from looking at the sun for just a few seonds too long to lower intensity eye damage from UV light...look here:

https://www.aiha.org/get-involved/VolunteerGroups/LabHSCommittee/Pages/Accidental-Ultraviolet-Exposure.aspx

There are MAJOR SHORT TERM RISKS with exposure to uv light.

UV is used in labs as one of the ways to cause genetic mutations in bacteria.

I was on a cruise last year and every time I passed by the hand sanitizer dispenser I squirted the liquid antibacterial on my hands. After the cruise I ended up in bed for two days because my immune system was weakened as a result of my sanitizer abuse. I learned the lesson and now would pass by the sanitizer dispensers and use soap and water instead.

For a long time, scientists have been looking for ways to keep the air in public spaces "germ-free" - without endangering people with harmful chemicals.

We'll replace the damage those chemicals do with skin cancer and cataracts...

Thats one of the problems for "white" (Western) people. It may be the cause of a couple of things. One is an increase in allergies, and another is a decreased resistance to things that don't bother other cultures. Think of the Mexicans (in Mexico) who can drink their water without melting away on the toilet a day later. Also, ever seen a Mexican with allergies? Its rare. Our super-clean lifestyle has led to a type of environmental weakness.

This is news? UV light has been used in water treatment for ages. Yeah, I’m absolutely sure.

I always thought UV was standard on HVAC systems in hospitals.

eliminates up to 99.9% of mold spores in your HVAC system and kills up to 87% of certain airborne bacteria passed by the system.
