Do the Anti-Tank Demolition Dance
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 2/6/2018 | J Hines

Posted on 02/06/2018 5:48:39 AM PST by w1n1

Have you heard of the demolition dance?
Before you can do the dance you have to shoot an M136 AT4 light shoulder-mounted anti-tank weapon and hit your target.
Still don’t know what the dance or an AT4 is?
The AT4 is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore weapon and is the most common light anti-tank weapons in the world.
The AT4 was intended to give infantry units a means to destroy or disable armoured vehicles and fortifications.
Watch this soldier shoot the AT4 and hit the target successfully, though its a slow mover (nine seconds) it packs a serious punch. And, yes he does do the dance - see the demolition dance here.

There now exists small, very inexpensive, easily operated drones no bigger than a seagull. Those drones armed with 1/2 kg of C4 plastic explosive, a magnet, and a contact fuse, make even ragtag insurgents a match against advanced armor.

“Does Walmart carry these yet?”

You have to go to a gun show to get one those. They’re usually right beside the machine guns and grenades, close to the booth with guns you can buy without a background check.

“Those drones armed with 1/2 kg of C4 plastic explosive, a magnet, and a contact fuse, make even ragtag insurgents a match against advanced armor.”

Any time I tried to suggest weapons of this nature while at GD I was told that it was too easy to counter them with electronics. Well, yes and no. The way they are being used now, off the shelf from toy stores, yes, that’s true. But our designers could have used the same off the shelf drones with our own special purpose electronics that could literally take six weeks for a competent company to develop and another six weeks to test. (Obviously, it would cost much more and take much longer if this was done on a government contract.) The thing is, the idea for a new and much more deadly generation of cheap weapons is here. Our military and the military-industrial complex won’t touch them because they don’t want cheap. Ford and GM ceded the small car market to foreigners because, as Edsel Ford said, “small cars generate small profits.” The same is true for small weapons.

The last thing Congress, the military procurement folks and the military industrial complex seem concerned with are the lives of the men in uniform.

I was at ROTC summer camp in 1969 at Fort Sill. We were given the opportunity to fire either the 90MM or the 106MM recoilless rifle. My buddy and I opted for the 90MM.

A bit of background. The 90MM has a bipod in the rear and a monopod in the front. The monopod can be adjusted for range. Typically, you fire it while lying down.

We estimated the range to a line of old junker cars, about 800 meters. My buddy fired first and his shot was maybe 50 meters short. He carefully left the 90 in place and I took his spot. I “nudged” the monopod just a ‘tad’ and I hit the 59 ford in the front door post. The doors came off, the hood flew into the air, and the trunk went sailing. All to intense cheering from my fellow ROTC cadets watching.

Not to worry, Iran is mass producing drones with strap on bombs (built to suit).

I have not personally seen one for sale at a gun show, but Mike Bloomberg and Nancy Pelosi said that you can buy them there.

Since they are both known liars, I’ll not take their ‘word’. I’ll just have to wait until a gun show advertises via the secret decoder ring we all have to get my GAU-8. This could take a while, so I’ll be patient; those rings are getting slower with each day - maybe we should ask for upgrades?

Quoting Nancy and Mike, I harangued my local gun show promoter enough that I was able to buy several cases of AT4s last month. I used my unicorn to fly them home.

I used to think these people were stupid, but I know better now. They are evil and plot our destruction with every breath.

Tanks (note the plural) never hang around by themselves.

It would be like an enemy destroyer just happening upon an aircraft carrier.

I know a way to silently cripple anyone from 1000 yards. For $500. But I’m honestly scared out of my mind to reveal it to anyone. Game changer. No defense.

Sooner or later someone else will think of it and use it.
